COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Doppelbock, or "Double Bock", is a dark, extra full bodied lager after the best Bavarian tradition. Such beer was created by monks for the tough fasting period of Lent. They called it "liquid bread". Look for flavor notes of chocolate, candied fruit and roasted malt.

Idiosynkrasie (8314) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 3, 2018
750ml bottle. Clear, dark brown-ish, ruby colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Sweet-ish, toasty, malty aroma, notes of toffee, caramel, milk chocolate, candied dark fruit. Taste is sweet malty, minimally toasty, notes of milk chocolate, toffee, caramel, candied fruit; smooth, soft and slightly sticky palate. Very sweet, but very tasty as well.

caramel, chocolate, roasty, citrus, earthy, alcohol, woody, brown, clear, minimal head, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, full body, flat, bitter Bottle from 05/13 opened on 31/12/17 (happy New Year!) Dark viscous pour with very little carbonation. Dark bread and cocoa aromas with candied fruit along with some woodiness. Taste is mildly bitter sweet, with sweetness lingering. Aged beer has some sourness now, and oxidation that mellowed out the alcohol character. Mouthfeel is full and finish is mildly bitter. Nice warming feeling from the alcohol.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2017 750ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga) (7+:4:7-:4:14=3.6)
Lovely rich sweet almost tarry roasty aroma. Reddy brown, tight tan head. Lovely full palate, smooth. Big malty body, rich and bocky, almost like a balkan baltic porter. A bit sweet and sticky, but only to a doublebock predictability. Biting bitter finish. No Salvator, it's rougher with the bittering hops, but still good.

Bottled in 2016.

Bottle. One of the best dopplebocks I've had outside of Germany. Hazy copper-brown in color with a light Tan, two finger head that drops to a small head that stays. Aroma is molasses and dried fruit. Taste is sweet upfront, roasted grains and molasses in the middle with a sweet finish. Really good.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2017 Pours a beautiful golden hue with a slight darkness that hints of a deep malt profile. Minimal head with light lacing. Aroma gives little glimpse of flavor with a whiff of caramel. Flavor starts slowly, with a light crisp fruity flavor and grows and warms across the palate. Then this beer unlocks as it warms in the mouth, adding rich plum sweetness with a touch of cloves. An outstanding beer.
