This Doppelbock, or "Double Bock", is a dark, extra full bodied lager after the best Bavarian tradition. Such beer was created by monks for the tough fasting period of Lent. They called it "liquid bread". Look for flavor notes of chocolate, candied fruit and roasted malt.

Keg. Roasty aroma. Muscat-like grape flavour and sweetness. Alcohol very evident, but followed by a sweet toffee aftertaste.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle corked and capped poured into a glass. Clear copper with small beige head. Aroma is caramel, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is pretty rich caramel and bread.

Bottle. One of the best dopplebocks I've had outside of Germany. Hazy copper-brown in color with a light Tan, two finger head that drops to a small head that stays. Aroma is molasses and dried fruit. Taste is sweet upfront, roasted grains and molasses in the middle with a sweet finish. Really good.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2017 Pours a beautiful golden hue with a slight darkness that hints of a deep malt profile. Minimal head with light lacing. Aroma gives little glimpse of flavor with a whiff of caramel. Flavor starts slowly, with a light crisp fruity flavor and grows and warms across the palate. Then this beer unlocks as it warms in the mouth, adding rich plum sweetness with a touch of cloves. An outstanding beer.

Bottle from Saveur Biere. Hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and a little roasted malt. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish. Oily and soft. 170917

Caña en el Lupulo Feroz 07..07..2017 (r315). Color marron oscuro con espuma beige. Aromas y sabores tostados y caramelos intensos. Ligeras especias. Cuerpo medio a intenso con buena sensacion alcoholica desde el principio. Bastante buena, para repetir sin duda.

750 ml. no bottling date. Clear copper-brown with a spit and a ring of creamy foam. Nose is molasses, whole grain bread, chocolate and lightly tart apple. Tastes of molasses, chocolate, whole grain toast, orange, cherry and toasted nut with the bitter pith. Some dried grass and cured tobacco in the long finish. Medium-heavy body has low-medium carbonation and strikes a delicate balance.

Une excellente bière digne des Trois Mousquetaires. Une succulent mélange de caramel, chocolat, épices, dattes et d’autres saveurs qui en fait une bière à boire et reboire.

Korcz (3389) - Warsaw, POLAND - MAY 1, 2017
Przypomina quadrupla. Lekko alkoholowy aromat. Suszone owoce, intensywny banan, karmel. Lekka cierpkość na finiszu. Fajne, bogate.

Mesjasz (1613) - Lodz, POLAND - MAY 1, 2017
Sampel butelki w Chmielarni. Bardzo przyjemne piwo, mocno zahacza o belgijskiego quada. Są suszone owoce, karmel, melasa. Bardzo smaczne.

The Etruscan (704) - Tuscany, ITALY - APR 30, 2017
Dark beige weak head. mahogany colour. Aroma is malty with fruity (dates, prunes and some dried fruits), caramel and light alcohol notes. Flavor is malty too with fruity (prunes, dates and walnuts) and light alcohol tones, ending in a fruity finish. Medium to full bodied.
