Version 2010. Bouteille 525/700.

Bottle share. Deep dark brown. Aroma of slightly lactose chocolate, dark fruit. Taste is chocolatey deliciousness.

Dark ruby brown with a small beige head. Aroma is soy sauce, chocolate, plum, oak. Slick mouthfeel, smooth on the palate with a bittersweet finish. Taste is chocolate, plum, liquorice, hint of raisins. Think I prefer the regular version.

Bottle 750ml. corked.

Clear dark black colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, dark berry, raisin, plum, light bournon notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light to moderate acidic and moderate bitter with a long duration, dark fruit, chocolate, wood. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130225]

Sweet stewed apples aroma graciously welcomes my tired self to. The head disappears in a minutes but starts off with a lovely, creamy brown. The complex notes of the aroma also include a bit of molasses. Sweet beer dominated by molasses and caramel. A hint of anise almost like an after thought. The beer is very smooth on the palate. Very drinkable. The effervescence introduces a lot of depth and enjoyment. Can't believe it's a 10% ABV beer since it feels so drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice thick black appearance with a tan head. This has all the classic roast malt flavours, slight mocha and just enough bitterness to steer away from sickly. awesome.

Tasting at ChrisOs. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Palate is slightly soft but with a crispy trailing edge. Creamy dark malt, a little dry chocolate. Something tangy in the middle. Subtle fruit underneath. Finishes light and creamy. Hides the abv well although I didn’t notice any bourbon.

Bottle. Aroma strawberry fruit leather, lighter than expected, very dark brown, tan head, little hoppy on the back end. The Coffee notes come through once it warms up a little. Very enjoyable, a little weird.

Bottle (2011 version): Poured a deep black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma if a complex mix of dark chocolate notes with light traces of vanilla and some clear notes of Citra which brings out some notes of dill that that work that well. Taste is also a weird mix between some black chocolate and light dry roasted malt notes with some very subtle trace of vanilla which clash with green hoppy notes of Citra with underwhelming notes of dill. Body is full with somewhat of an oily texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. I ma probably going against the grain on this one but way too much Citra for my taste which kind of doesn’t hold well against the black chocolate and bourbon notes. Also the second use of the bourbon barrel leaves very subtle notes of bourbon which could be more pronounced.
