UPDATED: JUN 3, 2013 750 ml bottle (2011 edition) from Boîte à Bières (many thanks, P-A). Pours black with an orangeish tint. Very short-lasting beige head, leaves no lacing. Smell is bourbon whiskey, vanilla, wood. Taste is dark cherry, figs, strong chocolate, cocoa, roasted, port wine, wood, bourbon whiskey. Some fruity, lemon and grapefruit bitterness. Leaves a lingering roast, wood, smoked and hazelnut taste in mouth. Light bodied, velvety mouthfeel. Carbonation is almost imperceptible. Felt like having the best port wine of my life.
This is a top notch beer ; unfortunately, compared to the "regular" version, it seems to have lost a lot of its body, and the carbonation also seems to have suffered, as well as the head. Regardless, I would recommend it to anyone, and would be delighted to try the 2010 version.

750 ml bottle from czar (2010 edition - thus, aged almost one year since its purchase in July 2012) - thanks a million, mate. Pours pitch black with a nice beige head (surprisingly much longer-lasting than expected) that leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is smoke, wood, dark chocolate, hazelnut, coffee. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee, roasted hazelnut, wood, smoke, black cherry, dates, figs, coconut. Finish is roast, hazelnut, dark chocolate, coffee. Lingering corn and bourbon flavors. Medium to strong body, sticky and oily mouthfeel. Weak carbonation. Very, very, extremely, unbelievably solid sh*t. If that beer were a woman, I would indulge in the most sinful of acts with it. I would probably sell my soul for an opportunity to bathe in it.
If heaven tastes as good as that lager, I am ready to go. If you got a bottle you want to get rid of...call me. crazy_cat_lady (752) - - FEB 4, 2015
Bottle at WVRST, but I forget when. :(
Hints of bourbon and wood on the nose. The un-aged variant is one of my favourite beers with more complexity. Lovely. barncatmatt (2355) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 8, 2012

Simply put, one of the best beers I’ve ever had. If you can get ahold of this one, don’t miss the opportunity.
