UPDATED: OCT 2, 2017 Bottle. Pours black color with an average frothy tan head that was lasting with good lacing. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate, citrus and complex alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a thick smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark sweet malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid porter.

cask days 2011, dark black with darker tan head, big notes of roastd maltiness, vanilla, wood, booze, bourbon, sweet & rich maltiness. Complex flavors. Bourbon notes were extremely dominate here, almost too much IMO. Big flavors. Very impressive but a bit much

Cask at Cask Days 2011. Beer #3 of festival. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small long-lasting bubbly tan head. Aroma: It’s definitely barrel-aged, with lots of wood, vanilla and sweetness followed by roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate. The flavour follows the aroma but the barrel-aging is more subtle and balanced, hence why I prefer it. Medium to full bodied. Very good stuff.

Bottle 543/700, with special thanks to Depanneur Peluso for digging it up from their special stock. Pours the typical jet black, just a thin ring of mocha bubbles clinging around the edges of the glass despite an aggressive pour...must have lost some carbonation during the aging. Deep, penetrating aromas of rich chocolaty malts, smoke, damp wood, black cherries, and the characteristic maple/bourbon notes; really complex. Flavor is a delicious marriage between smoky, dark malt and sweet, wooden bourbon profiles. There are a lot of flavors going on all at once so it’s hard to follow the taste through precisely. Finishes with a pleasant and lingering boozy note, with whiskey, maple, and a little coconut coming through. A bit too thin on the palate, not sure if this was the intention or not. I suspect the aging greatly diminished the Citra dry-hopping because it was not discernible amongst the other flavors. Overall, a great variation on one Quebec’s finest brews!

Bottle shared at the harvest festival and another strange one but in a pretty good way. The barrel characteristics were very light with small bourbon and vanilla notes. The dry hopping made this weird i think. Citrus and dank grass fight a bit with the roasty chocolate notes.

Au festival de chambly, robe noire et petite mousse moka, arôme de torréfaction et de houblon, goût de café à la vanille et de houblons. Très bonne mais je préfère l’original!

Bottled, 75 cl. Clear black with a small, almost non existent head. Roasted nose, licorice, oak, a whiff of smoke. Flavor is sweet deep roasted, very sugary, thick, leading to fruity hoppy, alcoholic, ashy finish.

Bouteille 750 ml. 10%. Bien bonne.
