COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and youll enjoy its subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

APPEARANCE: jet black, couple fingers tan head. Dissipates quickly but not much carbonation. SMELL: woody, vanilla, chocolate, coffee. Great first impression. TASTE: a dark roastiness at the start with some chocolate hanging around. Nicely sweet. Cherries and vanilla. Is it possible to be chocolate and vanilla?! A little bitterness creeps in late. Complexity is out of control. (thats good). PALATE: not heavy, smooth, easy to drink, but you can feel it warming all the way down. Dont think Ive ever tasted a beer thats felt like that before. This is phenomenal. These guys never disappoint. 2 thumbs up.

Jet black colour. Thin off white head which quickly dissipates. Vinegar aroma. Rich flavour of fruit and chocolate. Harsh finish. May have gone past its date. Would love to sample again fresh.

Not sure where I bought this one, but has been in my cellar a while. "dition Limite, Automne 2008" written instead of "Grand Cuve". Pours a real dark colour with little red highlights. The head is beige-brown coloured, decent sized, frothy, has good retention and leaves a bit of lace. The aromas are strong with some plums, raisins, coffee, molasses and hints of chocolate. Beautiful silky smooth and even a little creamy mouthfeel with absolutely no burning. You can really taste the roasted malts in the flavours, giving that burnt smokiness that lingers. A very nice light bitterness holds up, with the coffee and chocolate. Notes of cherries are very well-hidden as well. Quite happy I have held on to this one, but will have to try a more up-to-date version to see if it is as smooth and easy to drink. Would of never known this was a 10% ABV brew if it was not written.

Dark brown/black with a medium sized tan head. Sweet chocolate nose with raisins, toffee, some alcohol and roast. The flavor is lightly sweet, very lightly bitter with lots of chocolate, raisins, alcohol, molasses and prunes. Full body is round with moderate carbonation.

750ml brown bottle, corked. 2011. Deep brown in colour, mahogany highlights. Generous tan head, thick consistency, light spots of lace. Nose is slightly smoky, chocolate malts, light fruit. Taste has a sweet cherry like fruitiness up front, deep caramel, smoky and chcolately malts too. Smoke lingers in the finish, bitter black coffee notes, black cherry tang, roasty malts and some cocoa as well. Pretty rich throughout, not heavy handed with alcohol notes. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, the soft texture works with the richness of this beer. Smokiness was not expected, but works great. I rarely enjoy Baltic Porter this much, but this has a lot going for it.

Belle rondeur. (159-301011/090212)

Rich, smooth, resolved with as much chocolate/coffee notes as one could expect without them being explicitly added.

Near black pour, 1 finger of head, very slight ruby hues. Roasted malt, Dark cherry, blackberry, very inviting aroma. Very slight sourness that completely disappears when this hits room temperature. Roasted mallt, very slight smokiness, dark cherry, blueberry, blackberry, coffee, burnt toffee. Thick body. Dangerously easy to drink for a 10% porter. Serve it a couple degrees below room temperature.
