Aroma is chocolate, caramel. Taste is sweet of cherry, port, present carb, bitter and sweet aftertaste. A favourite bobark (10) - - FEB 13, 2012
Rich, smooth, resolved with as much chocolate/coffee notes as one could expect without them being explicitly added. Johnsense (1629) - - FEB 11, 2012
Near black pour, 1 finger of head, very slight ruby hues. Roasted malt, Dark cherry, blackberry, very inviting aroma. Very slight sourness that completely disappears when this hits room temperature. Roasted mallt, very slight smokiness, dark cherry, blueberry, blackberry, coffee, burnt toffee. Thick body. Dangerously easy to drink for a 10% porter. Serve it a couple degrees below room temperature. TheBeerGod (6209) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Bottle - 750 mL corked and caged. Vintage 2011 at 10% ABV. Black pour with a short, fizzy tan head. Aroma is smoky with strong roasted malt, dark fruit notes and hints of chocolate. Taste is rather sweet with roasted malt, chocolate notes, dark fruit, coffee, burnt caramel, soft smokiness, and light woody notes. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with sweet and roasted malt, chocolate covered cherries, coffee notes and soft smokiness. SudsMcDuff (8386) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - FEB 6, 2012
this brewery always intrigues me... pours a deep ruby brown .. . instant coffee, light tar, roasty charcoal, and light bitterness .. . enjoyable, but i wanted at least some kind of smoke .. . . When, boy? When, ..are you gonna get your act together?

Deep black with a generous frothy light brown head that retained well and left magnificent lacing. Rich aromas of dark fruits like plums and figs, blackberries, chocolate, coffee and smoke. Flavors are similar and similarly complex, with the chocolate and coffee notes coming through a bit stronger, and the addition of brown sugar and molasses. Full body, slick mouthfeel, soft carbonation and a finish that features dark fruit sweetness and alcohol warmth. Jool (198) - - FEB 2, 2012
Bouteille 750mL, cuvee 2011.
bottle from rare beer club. pours medium body black with amazing dark tan head. aroma of roasted oats and brown sugar. taste deep roasted oat and nuts slight char taste. Phatman (176) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 21, 2012
from bottle, I’ve had this on my shelf for a while i thought i was saving it for something but i may as well drink it. pours a black colour, some caramel around the edges. terrible head in my opinion clearly a result of carbonation it fizzes strongly and dissipates promptly. lovely aroma, deep rich malty notes, sugary sweetness, dark cocoa nibs, maybe some apples and berrys. A richly complex flavour, typical burst of roasted malts combined with chocolate and coffee, prominent coffee bitterness in the aftertaste. Superbly balanced beer. A bit dissapointed to find how fizzy it was it causes a poor head and an unpleasant tingly on the tongue, it’s unessecary in my opinion. thb (829) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 15, 2012
Oh my word oh my word oh my word. This is so many wonderful things all at once. Pours inky black, plus nice head. Aromas are - where to start? Black cherry? Coffee? Chocolate? Bacon? Smoke? Leather? Blackberries? All that in one beer? Yes, and more - and just flat out delicious. Warming alcohol is an exclamation point. A treat.
