COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and youll enjoy its subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

Bottle via tytoanderso, thanks a billion! Automne 2008Pours a beautiful dark brown with luscious brown head that paints the glass with each swirl. Thick Baltic porter-like nose steaming with malty and slightly salty sensations of nuts, chocolate, and berries but also foreshadowing a big, thick, malty monster of a beer, and I hope it comes through... Nice, thick malty flavors bring back the chocolate and nuts and sprinkle them with a touch of saltiness. Nice thick body, perfectly balancing hop bitterness, and body-accentuating alcohol thats neither hot nor boozy. The perfect execution of the hopping in this beer really sets it apart from most Baltic Porters IMO..it really just pops this beer to whole other level. Practically perfection within Baltic Porter parameters, at least in what I consider Baltic Porter perfection...which of course could very well deviate from official style guidelines but I dont really give a rats ass about style guidelines. Love it!

Poured from a 750 ml bottle purchased at Depanneur Peluso in Montreal. Black pour with a big, creamy light tan head. Aroma holds smoked malt in the foreground, with notes of caramel, chocolate, and lactic cream on the second tier. Flavor is much sweeter and richer, with greatly increased chocolate notes, like fudge brownie. The smoke backs off, replaced with molasses and a touch of coffee. Beautiful silky smooth mouthfeel. Really a damn good baltic porter.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a snifter. Dark chocolately brown with a slight reddish hue. No head to speak of. Chocolate on the aroma, with an oaky touch to it. Outstanding smooth flavour of coffee and oak. Beautiful velvety softness and a bitter (but completely pleasant) after taste. Outstanding, very good.

[on tap] Potent vanilla and rum aroma with a little coffee and cinnamon. Oily, almost opaque black appearance, under some thin foam dots. Tangy ethanol together with strong vanilla and bitter coffee. Molasses accent and detectable hops. Medium body, moderately warming, moderate carbonation, moderate vanilla tang finish.

Chocolate caramel nose, pours a dark dark brown with a very dark brown head. Taste is an almost smoky, toasted caramel flavour dominating with a warming spicinessstaying on the tongue well after the beer is gone.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2011 EDIT: 2011 vintage: big changes this year, but no less outstanding. Instead of molasses, Im getting big cherry in the middle. Rest is the same though, big in the mouth, beautiful in the glass. what a beer. This is a fantastic beer from one of PQs great micros. Intense coffee and acohol aroma with.hint of molasses. Top notch.
