750 ml bottle, Summer of 2011 edition, shared with a good friend. Pours a hazy orangeish yellow with a nice, persistent white head. Smells of orange, vanilla and bananas, along with grains. Tastes like tropical fruits, namely bananas, mango, goyave and a hint of wheat. Very sharp citrus bitterness, reminiscent of lemon, lime and grapefruit, with a touch of alcohol. Body is very rich and creamy. Excellent bottle! bedainedebiere (543) - Terrebonne, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 23, 2010
Bottle that just got in store, 9,99$ for 750ml, worth every penny. I rated the 2008 version very well and destroyed the 2009 awful version but this new batch brings everything in an other dimension that this brewer never reached before. By far their best offering yet to me; amarillo strikes again! Hazy appearance, about the same color than the label, with a lasting thin layer of foam covering almost all the surface of the Orval glass I poured this magic brew in. Powerful aroma annouces aggressive flavours. There seems to be a whole lot of cereals in their, with a barnyard rendition that somewhat reminds of the bests Saison I had, but the intensity of the divine hopping could probably satisfy the craziest of hopheads. Hop are very tropical fruit oriented at first, becoming leafy, salty and peppery in the everending aftertaste. This is a magnificient beer to me. Overwhelming. Is freshness a major factor here? 2009 edition from the Rare Beer Club. Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a murky orange-caramel color with a small orange-tan head that produced good lacing. The aroma was rum, apricot, caramel, orange and bread. The flavor was tangy, bitter and fruity with notes of apricot, cherry, vanilla, caramel, nut, bread, bourbon and fig. The finish was long with fruit, caramel and bourbon lingering. The body was thick and full. Fairly boozy overall but it worked with this one. Excellent. BLAP (73) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 17, 2011
Weird brown color. Mixed candy and fruit malt aromas. Very high taste of alcohol and strong candy taste. (Tasted 2009 version 10 % ABV). SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 27, 2010

From la Trappe à Fromage. Pours golden/orange, really opaque. Forms a thick, impressive white head. Most definitely a pretty beer. Extremely well balanced aroma : bread/cereal/banana (wheat/malt), oranges/citrus (Amarillo!), banana/dough (yeast). The Hops are even felt in the mouth -- the dominant is definitely the hops, which is slighly unusual for Wheat Ale. Good alcohol taste, pretty much on line with the 8 ABV. Heavy body. Loooooooong finish, mainly fruits and alcohol, and still pretty bitter. This is a case where the hops make a terrific job. 750mL bottle, pours hazy golden with a big white head. Wonderfully floral aroma with tropical fruits (mango, apricot, peach), citrus, orange and wheat. Flavour is equally compelling, though featuring spices upfront, followed by orange, citrus, the tropical fruits, wheat and finishing again with these spiced notes and clove. Most exceptional beer. czar (9338) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 23, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 10, 2013 on tap at ninkasi, qc. clear bright golden-orange with a tall frothy white head, very good retention and lacing. light wheat, citrus, tropicalness, hint of sweetness, backed by medium hopping - medium long citrusy grapefruity finish. oily, lively, medium body. excellent! Bottle. Deep bronze colour with heavy sediment at the end of the pour, capped by a thick creamy head that lasts the entire serve. Beautiful tropical fruit aroma, tons of guava and passionfruit with honey undertones. Crazy! Smooth silky entry, lots of soft tropical fruit with low acidity, very mild esters, low-medium bitterness softened by the yeast. Gulpably drinkable. Like no other wheat beer I’ve had. Fantastic. ndon (857) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2010
tap at taphouse. really enjoyed this one. a comment i heard was that it looked like someone drank it then threw it up into the glass, but to me just looked like cloudy pineapple juice. plenty of citrus flavours and aromas in this one, with a nicely bittered finish. one of the better beers i had that day.
