Merveilleuse biere. A essayer absolument

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Clear, deep amber color with beige head. Aroma has lots of sweet malts, dried fruits but also some earthy bitterness. Taste starts quite sweet with candy and lots of malt but turn quickly and gets scraping bitter. Body is quite light and well carbonated. It’s a very chaotic beer, not balanced at all and quite harsh.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Nose is odd. A bit of dish water, wtf? Some nuts and caramel too. Heavy body with a hint of booze and a tad of carbonation. Intense flavours both on tongue and palate. Well balanced, long finish. Besides the nose very good.

Bottle from the LCBO in Niagara Falls. Bottled 06.10.2014. Lot 458. 9%. Pours deep translucent amber - lovely colour! - with rather fast disappearing creamy white head. On the nose it’s pretty awesome, almost impossible to describe it in words, something nostalgic (like jammy, marmalady), something crisp-fresh-refreshing (like some varieties of apple)... plus caramel, toffee, figs, dates... Ah, pointless, it’s not "like" those things, it’s a thing in itself. Tastes excessively bittersweet, but by ’excessively’ I mean it’s luxurious and not over the top. Elegant even? The 101 IBU says maybe not exactly, it is pretty bitter of grassy-citric hops. Also, the booziness kinda shows, yet without appearing as the usual warmth in the throat. Carbonation fine, body nearing heavy, and luckily not too sticky on the palate. Finishes malty dry, which is basically the only rather mundane thing about the beer. Lovely stuff, would love to try it aged vs fresh.
