COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Voilá! A beer from chilly Quebec inspired by the "rauchbier" you find in Bamberg, Germany — a dark beer made partly from smoked malt, aged slowly at low temperatures, and put in the bottle unfiltered, with a fine yeast sediment. All for one!

Bottle thanks to Glouglouburp!
Dark brown, nice beige head. Nose has lots of smoke, roast malt, and some mushroom. Favor is a little less enticing with moderate of smoke, malt, slight chocolate. Smooth palate, creamy. Not the meaty, salty notes of Schlenkerla, but still quite nice.

In short: A smoky chocolate lager with a rich creamy body. Unusual and very good.
How: Bottle 750ml, first batch, consumed fresh one month after its release
The look: Dark mahogany body topped by a medium tan head
In long: Nose is moderately smoky nose but not in a Shlenkerla-smoky fashion. This is more like a burnt cake/bakery smoke. Taste is pleasantly chocolaty, black chocolate without the bitterness. Light fruity touch of prunes and figs. Not very smoky in the mouth with only a light smoke presence. Really full chewy body, like a melted chocolate cake. Appropriate relaxed carbonation. Another superb S.S. from Les Trois Mousquetaires. With the S.S. Rauchbier, S.S. Alt Secrète and S.S. Oktoberfest Blonde I haven’t seen so many effective S.S. since the heydays of Heinrich Himmler.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color lager with a huge medium brown color head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light bitter roasted malt with distinctive notes of smoke. Taste is a mix between some medium smoke malt with some light bitter dry roasted malt note. Full body with good carbonation. I would have enjoyed this with even more smoked notes but very good nonetheless.

Pours a dark brown color with brown highlights and a thick light brown head. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, mild roasted malt and smoked malt that reminds me of smoked ham. The flavor is quite solid, smoked malt, roasted malt and chocolate entertain my senses. The body is medium with a smooth, close to creamy texture and gentle carbonation. It’s a bit different from what I expected but this is very enjoyable and well crafted,

Shared with Pyrozoid. Very dark brown poor with a frothy light brown head. Aromas of smoked hickory, mesquite, roasted malts, burnt toast. Palate is very well balanced with a long lasting bitter profile. Medium carbonation with a nice mellow medium body. Flavors are not to intense but complexe enough to be very intriguing. A smokiness that is very present in mouth as well.
