Aroma of smoke and rich, roasted malts. Pours a very dark brown with a brown head. Taste is of roasted malt, oak and smoke. Pretty good smoke beer. Better experience than my last. trapped (3147) - New York, TURKEY - JUL 11, 2011
Bottle at barVolo, Toronto, on 8 July 2011. Dark brown color, tan-amber big spongy head, caramel-coca aroma with a whiff of berries, very little smoky flavor, more like a stout than Marzen! Mild carbonation and abrupt finish. slimspady (219) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 25, 2012
Smoke, roasted malts. Some fruit. Unimpressed off the start, but got significantly better as it warmed. My first rauchbier, not too bad. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 19, 2011
Bottle at Churchkey. Nose of saltwater, light smoke, coffee, cocoa. Papery, oxidation, saltwater, roast, smoke. Not a big fan. jonas (7568) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - SEP 17, 2010
Bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a golden head. Light smoky and honeyish nose. Slightly fizzy mouthfeel, which makes the body feel a tad too light. Roast and smoke flavours on a nutty base. Burned sugar on the tongue afterwards.

Bouteille de 750 ml. Deguste avec french tickler. Une biere de couleur brune foncé avec un moyen collet non collant beige. Odeur fumé, sel, viande, poivre et épices. Gout fumé, épicés et sec. petit arriere gout de café brulé. Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - MAY 14, 2009
Bottle. Body-nearly opaque with a dense eighth inch head. Nose-stinks, rotten melons, smoked malts. Taste-some smoke, tastes like you took cantaloupe aqua fresca, strained it into a glass rubbed your finger in a toilet and an industrial bakery, dipped your finger into the strained juice, fermented the juice in the back of an old beat up Chevy parked in the blazing sun of the Sonora desert for a year, poured the result into an ashtray, gave it a good shake, then bottled it. Yup. That’s what it tastes like. notalush (5874) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 29, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 30, 2009 750, slightly different label - I love me some smoked beer, so when I saw "bamburg style smoked beer" on the label, I got really excited - pours a deep, dark brown, with a well-retained lace - so far so good - nice beechwood smoke in the aroma, with some toasted malt, caramel, chocolate, some vegetal qualities - okay, not as good as I wanted the nose to be, but there is still hope - full carbonation in the mouth - flavor of burnt malts, sour cherries, leafy/tobacco character, crappy chocolate, smoke, ashy flavor, day-old coffee - ah-ha, here is where it is ruined. pushkinwow (2789) - Ottawa, CANADA - SEP 29, 2011
750ml bottle. Murky brown with tan head, smoke, syrup, malt, some molasses, metallic, bit of caramel. High carbonation, metal again, mildly sweet, some vegetable, bit of smoke throughout but light finish. Tried to let it breath but the metal just wouldn’t disappear...
