COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Voilá! A beer from chilly Quebec inspired by the "rauchbier" you find in Bamberg, Germany — a dark beer made partly from smoked malt, aged slowly at low temperatures, and put in the bottle unfiltered, with a fine yeast sediment. All for one!

This very full flavored beer is masterfully done. Great integration of all the qualities. Poured with a nice tan head and a little lace. Color is an opaque brown black. Aroma is mainly smoke complimented with dark roasty malts, a hint of licorice and french roast coffee. Flavor is exactly the same. Body is great and ditto carbonation. Finish is like flavor and taper into a nice semilong end.

Sample at the Hawai’i Admission Day tasting from a bottle thanks to grownfool. Brown-red, tan head. Nice light meat aroma, ash. Taste is light smoke, meat, ash, campfire.

Généreuse mousse, un goût parfaitement et déliceusement fumé. L’odeur aussi est très bonne de ce parfum fumé. Douce, à peine un légé goût acre à la fin.

Burnt malts, barbeque, bacon, chocolate. Dark brown tan head. Ashy, smokey, bbq, a little smoked salty meat. Roasted dark malts underneath. Nice roast/smoke combo in finish. Really tasty stuff.

You can definately smell the smok in the malt, its like a clean campfire smell in a bottle. Deep and dark, great head, retains lacing throughout the durationg of the glass. There is great malt flavour but it is quickly overshadowed by the imense thickness that the smoke as added or brought out. Its quite a strong flavour, but seems to dull mid palate before a strong aftertaste of the bubbles and smoke. Quite nice, but the smoke in the malt is a bit too peaky before the dull midlle taste, I think some more hops would fit in nicely if they could find a good match.

Pours near black with a fully receding tan head. Notes of roast malt, pepper, spice, wine, plum, light smoke, toffee and dark bread. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. The smoke was subdued, which allows the more subtle flavors to surface. Quite nice.

750 ml bottle. Pours deep reddy brown in colour, with frothy tan head. Head dissipates quickly, leaving tonnes of fine lacing behind. Aroma and taste are very smoky, roasted malt. Very drinkable rauchbier!
