750ml bottle. Pours a dark unclear brown with a lovely medium frothy tan foamy head that fades into a fide frothy top layer. Nice smokey beechwood aroma, chocolate, grass, roast and some acidity. Flavor follows but sweeter with great acidity, chocolate, grass, sticky deep roasted barely and then smokey beechwood. Long chocolate syrup aftertaste. This is definitely more of a smoked porter. Medium bodied with a full mouth feel with uniform fizzy carbonation, a bit chewy. pintbypint (3975) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 14, 2009
750ml brown bottle, corked. Dark red brown colour, Airy and noisy light brown head, fades to a ring. Sweetish chocolatey nose mixed with smoke and wood. Flavour follows the aroma pretty closely, dark chcolatey malts, some roast. Mild smoked finish, some roasty bitterness and black coffee are evident. Medium body, soft carbonation. Solid beer, thouroughly drinkable, could have been smokier, but I am not complaining. EastCoaster (122) - USA - AUG 3, 2009
very delectable beer, the smokyness was subtle not overwhelming, poured a very dark shade of brown. Picked up some chocolate notes in there or maybe just some roasted malt. First time trying any of the beer from this brewery, and was delightfully surprised. barncatmatt (2286) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 22, 2009
750 ml bottle shared at a KW group tasting. pours black with a small tan head. aroma of roasted malt. coffee, and chocolate mostly, with a touch of smoke. the flavour is similar. the smoke doesnt play much of a role in this one. more like a porter then anyting else. 750mL shared by Mat at our KW group tasting. Thanks Mat! Pours a deep dark hazy brown with a small white head. The aroma is really quite simple, smoked malts to the max, BBQ, not much else actually. The flavour has your same basic smoked malt aspects, roastyness, very tasty. Kind of light on the palate with no sign of booze and it’s super drinkable. I think I drank my glass in about 15 seconds and I had a decent sized sample. Another solid German styled beer from this Quebecois brewery, and I’m very appreciative of their efforts, kudos (I wish I could get their stuff ALL the time). Nothing too bold or complex, just nicely done Rauchbier.

Bottle… Dark brown, almost black beer with a mid-sized, wispy, tan head. Great retention. Chocolate, campfire smoke and smoked meat are the true olfactory standouts. Full-bodied and very creamy with tingly carbonation. The flavor is all about caramel, chocolate and smoky goodness – malty sweetness; adequate bitterness. Finishes smoky and a touch bitter. Nice smoked porter. SuzyGreenberg (1604) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 16, 2009
750 ml bottle; thanks after4ever!! Pours clear cola brown with nice mix of coffee and smoke in the aromas; mild roast characteristics mixed with peated malt; lovely, dry and mildly acidic; smoke level is good for me and creates a rich, malty, dry flavor; very nice larryLSB (533) - La Selva Beach, California, USA - OCT 29, 2009
Poured from 750ml. Dark brown with medium light tan head. Nose was smoky, a bit spicy and sweet with a hint of malt. Taste was smoky, malty, a bit sweet with a dryness, but not too dry. Good while homebrewing..... SamGamgee (2585) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - OCT 29, 2009
75cl bottle. Another nice surprise at K&L. Thanks to Alex for tipping us off to this one. Dark brown with a medium-sized beige head. The aroma is a nice mix between smoke and bread crust, with lighter caramel and a roasty chocolate note gliding over it all. The flavor integrated the smoke very well into everything. It doesn’t really assert itself independently, but acts to enhance the chocolate, bread crust, and burn sugar elements. There is lots of complexly rich malt character, while remaining dry and very clean on the tongue, with a medium body and almost creamy carbonation. The flavors and aromas are reminiscent of crushed malt over a campfire and gooey s’mores. Cool stuff. sebletitje (10539) - Enghien, BELGIUM - NOV 27, 2009
pours dark brown, off-white head.
aroma is loaded with Bamberg style malts, hints of chocolate that seemed for upfront as the beer warmed up.
flavor, light roast and smoke, hints of bitter chocolate and toffee. Contrary to the aroma, the chocolate was more present. Finish is similar, chocolate and light smoke. Well crafted and tasty.
