COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Voilá! A beer from chilly Quebec inspired by the "rauchbier" you find in Bamberg, Germany — a dark beer made partly from smoked malt, aged slowly at low temperatures, and put in the bottle unfiltered, with a fine yeast sediment. All for one!

750 c&c from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark brown with a foamy tan head. The aroma is quite smokey. Med body. Sharpish carbonation. Flavor is smoke over something like very light citrus and some firm dark malt. Almost chocolate. Smoked chocolate? Maybe not.

Shared with Pyrozoid. Very dark brown poor with a frothy light brown head. Aromas of smoked hickory, mesquite, roasted malts, burnt toast. Palate is very well balanced with a long lasting bitter profile. Medium carbonation with a nice mellow medium body. Flavors are not to intense but complexe enough to be very intriguing. A smokiness that is very present in mouth as well.

Thanks to Glouglouburp for this one! Pours a deep dark brown with medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma strong of smoked malt, smoke, slight chocolate, and not a lot else. Flavor is as advertised and makes for a nice enjoyable brew. It’s smoked, it’s beer, and it’s good.

Big bottle, shared with Parksy. Pours a dark brown with copper highlights, topped with a big bubbly beige head that laces its way down the glass. Nice meaty smoke aroma, cleaner than the Longrow from Brewdog that I had earlier, and with an underlying sweet burnt sugar maltiness. Flavours of strong smoke with underlying sweet molasses malt, slightly tart/sour finish. Tasty!

marcus (10976) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 9, 2009
This dark brown beer poured with a generous tan head and a smoky aroma. There is a very smoky malt flavor with a dry slightly bitter, slightly sour finish. It tastes like a good German rauchbier, but the smoke is a bit more restrained.

Bottle: Dark pour with a deep amber hue in the light and a well retained tan film. Smoky/woody earthy character in the aroma- some evident chocolate malt- quite chocolaty actually- richly malty and clean. Fluffy body with a crisp/sharp carbonation. Both roasty and smoky in the flavor- earthy peat notes at the fore leads to a smooth dark chocolate/roasted barley middle. The later flavors become earthy again with a soody smoke note and a cleanblack malt char way on the back in the retro-nasal action. Quite roasty overall, but clean, making it more like smoky Schwartzbier. Pretty solid.
