Bottle, 0.33l, courtesy of CanCrusher. Pours hazy redbrown color with thin creamy tan-like head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of dark fruits, toasted malt, alcohol, bread and some vanilla. Taste starts with moderate sweet toasted malt, follows mildly roasted with dried fruits acidity, grassy and mild medicinal. Mouthfeel is warming, alcoholic and moderate spicy, while finish is medium bitter. Medium body, thick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Tasty positive surprise...

Bottle from Lidl, Pescara. Pours reddish brown with a little light beige head. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, caramel and raisin. Aroma altogether quite vague. Taste features malts, caramel, yeast and some earthy notes. Alcohol is strongly present. As for appearance, the liquid looks clear and transparent, which makes the rich, full, almost creamy mouthfeel somewhat a surprise. Finishes off with a dry, yet smooth, hoppiness. Lacks that typical fruitiness and maltiness I especially appreciate in a Belge Ale. Quite a pleasant drink, nevertheless.

33cl bottle labelled as a bock but not a bock. Ugh. Nose is cherry or some similar red/black fruit. Sip adds herbal and basement aromas. Really digging these earthy notes. Damn! Sweet. Intermittent medicinal notes.

Dark brown body and a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, raisin. The taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Thick, sticky body. Powerfull but easy to drink.

330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Clear ruby red colour with a thin ring of yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head with crumpety off-white foams which lasts for 2 minutes; Very good sticky lacing and active carbonation; Fragrant aroma of Amber malt, with light roastyness, hint of smoke, strong caramel, toffee, cream, plums, red fruits, brown sugar, bread and Bel yeast; Mid to light sweet taste of moderate Amber malt, with strong caramel, light toffee, light red fruits, very light molasses, strong bread, Bel yeast, light lemon, light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Slick and creamy palate; Mouth feel is fair Amber maltyness in a slightly thin but very silky background. Lots of caramel, red fruits and carbo. Sweetness and booze are surprisingly light as in English Ale. Bready and yeasty with light Belgian character. Light lemon to round. Nice! Hoppiness is no aroma, with light lemon and light grass in taste. Bitterness is fairly low for an abrupt, fairly low astringent caramel-malty finish; Dry after taste. Easy and slightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one smells like a remotely like a light Doppelbock with all those toffee and sweetness, yet the taste is refined, winter-warmer English Ale with red fruitiness, low sweetness and creamy to the tongue. This is gentlemanly English in Belgian clothing. Recommended!

27/02/2016 @home - 33cl bottle bought by a friend. Dark brown with nice tanned head. Nose is grains, light roastedness, caramel. Taste is very malty, light caramel, not overly sweet a bit alcoholic in the end
