COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Gose recipe has changed many times over the years but the one constant is the use of our local sea water for the salt additions. This tart and slightly salty golden ale is a brewery favorite and truly gives you a taste of our Central Coast region in a glass.

Hazy yellow color with a medium sized fluffy white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is mild a little lemony, a little salty a little like peachy fruitiness.

The flavor is very pleasant, quite dry and very tart with a mild sour fruity component. The way the strong lemony elements play off the mild saltiness provides a little more complexity than I normally get from a gose.

Good stuff to be sure.

Bottle, 2016 vintage. Pours pretty orange glow, white head. Aroma is very tart, vinegar, white oak, salt, sour funk, bit of hay. Nice. Very sour. Flavor is very sour, vinegar heavy, tart lemon, oak, acidic. Less of a gose and more of a traditional oak aged sour. Nice, albeit very sour. Drinkable.

Shelton 2017. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange on tap with thin ring of bubbly white head that leaves minimal lace. Aroma of nice lactic acidity and lemon tartness over a hint of salty brine and sweet wheat. Taste is more toward the acidity and sweet malty notes, just minor hints of the salt and fruitiness. Its a good American version of the style, tasty for sure.

superspak (6108) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JUL 28, 2017
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2016 vintage bottling on the cork. Pours slightly hazy pale golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, melon, white grape, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, sea water, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of leathery/musty funk, peppercorn, vanilla, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrel, sea water, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, melon, white grape, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, sea water, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of leathery/musty funk, peppercorn, vanilla, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, green apple, melon, white grape, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, sea water, wheat, cracker, peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, light vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrel, sea water, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from tart/spiciness and carbonation, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, acidic/grainy, and lightly saline/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a outstanding gose! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, oak barrel, sea water, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the mellowly lactic/tannic/drying finish. Really spot on Brett complexity and oak presence; solid malt balance; and not overly saline/salty or lactic. A highly enjoyable offering.

750ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish, deep goldn colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, fairly lasting, minimalyl lacing, snow-white head. Tart-ish, fruity and salty-spicy aroma, notes of quince, lemon juice, salted lemon, a lactic touch, very cautious oaky overtones. Taste is tart, salty-spicy and fruity, notes of quince, lemon, salted lemon, subtle remnants of malt sweetness with a minimally bready touch combine with very cautious hints of oak and vanilla; astringent palate, fizzy, prickling carbonation. Well crafted, slightly challenging, if not with borderline values concerning tart- and spiciness.

On tap at Libertine Brewing Tasting Room in SLO, as Pacific Ocean Blue Gose. Smooth, pleasant nose of a handful of grain, dusty, with light tart fruit, and a bit of funk. Hazy medium gold straw color. Grain, sweetish malt, tangy citrus, some lemon, gentle lightly buttered toast or pastry, light spice, and thin tongue-coating maltiness. Thin body.
