Tap at the brewpub on 2/3/08: Pours a nearly opaque black with dark mahogany hues and a small, creamy stringy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel candy vanilla and milk chocolate with a touch of roasty malts. Body starts fairly full with a nice dark malty sweetness and complex vanilla balance toward a smooth toasty caramel and dark chocolate finish. A nice stout. Appearance: Black body with a small, fizzy, khaki-colored head.
Smell: Simple, though agreeable aroma of vanilla and chocolate Tootsie Rolls.
Taste: Flavor akin to a vanilla cola with a bit of semi-sweet chocolate. Hint of roasty, earthy bitterness kicks in midway. Same till finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s okay! A sweetish beer that leans towards being a lighter, more drinkable stout. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - FEB 24, 2008
