COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heir Apparent is an imperial stout with a complex caramel soul tempered by a chocolate and roasty undertone. Sweeter in style than Russian Imperial stouts at only 60 IBUs but balanced by the heat of fresh Mexican peppers, vanilla and cacao nibs. The Heir Apparent is ambitiously biding his time until he comes to power. His time will come.

750ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, tight, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish, caramel and dark malty aroma with a roasty touch, notes of chocolate, vanilla, background-ish fruity-peppery hints of chili, some mocha. a touch of hazelnut-flavoured white coffee. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolately dark malty, fruity-peppery spicy and slightly fruity, minimally roasty, notes of cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, red berries and chili, red pepper, imagined hints of cinnamon, some plum butter in the finish; well hidden alcohol. Rather slim and light bodied, creamy texture, smooth and soft palate. Reminds of Mexican chocolate sauce emulations like Stone's Xocoveza, with more emphasis is on the fruity side in this case. Well done!

750 ml, bottle, shared with Gabe. Pours a medium, well retained beige head, with minimal lacing, over a slightly hazy dark brown (SRM 35) body.......nose is cinnamon, molasses, chocolate, slight coffee, vanilla........taste is slightly sweet caramel, with chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, tobacco, mild chili heat and flavor, finishing moderately hop bitter, balance to the malts and spices.....mouth feel, sticky medium heavy body with creamy texture, alcohol warmth present, moderate carbonation. This is a lovely, easy drinking super complex beer. It is on the desert end of the Imperial Stout style. It should be rated as a Spice/Herb/ Vegetable beer. BJCP 9/3/16/4/7
