UPDATED: JUL 16, 2014 Tasted under both the original name of "Capucine" and the later name of "Abdis" (since 2006), this blonde top-fermented beer was one of the last attempts Riva made to commercially exploit the renowned name of Liefmans, originally an ’oud bruin’ brewery. To no avail, as Riva (then already named Liefmans Breweries) went bankrupt in 2007 and the Capucine range was abolished when Moortgat took over their Liefmans production site and redefined it as the worthy, ancient brewery of the local oud bruin it had always been. Loosely structured, off-white head, colour a warm golden blonde; fruity aroma with clear grainy notes (even corn), taste a subdued fruitiness, slightly resinous mouthfeel, slick, malty and corn-like sweetishness, finish only mildly hoppy, not enough to balance the malt sweetness. 330ml Bottle (Shared by FatPhil) - Golden in colour. Brandy and apple in the aroma. Apple, plum and sponge cake in the taste with a faint hoppy hint. Past its best, but still very drinkable, even if it is a different beast to what it once was. BelgBeerGeek (1307) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JUL 31, 2011

Draught at Belgobaren, Stockholm. Amber/orange color, small white head. Sweet fruity, yeasty aroma. Notes from pine apples and peach. Malty fruity flavor, apples, grapes, fresh but rather sweet. piscator34 (2622) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 2, 2010
Bottled sample via lubiere. Dark gold in colour with medium carbonation and floaties. Aromas are of apricot, spicy yeast, and sweetish pale malts. The malts are a bit sticky-sweet in the mouth, but are somewhat balanced by floral and spice notes. Drying a slightly oxidized on the finish. It reminds me a bit of Leffe Blonde, but might have shown a bit differently if it were fresher. Average overall. Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 9, 2008
A golden ale with a thin creamy white head. A sweet candy malt with light wet dog notes, orange pulp. In mouth, a sweet oxidized malt, with creamy yeasts, light vanilla, coriander, very sustained. Bieropholie imports. Borresteijn (7411) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 12, 2008
Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of spices, yeast, fruits. Flavour is orange, fruits, yeast and some spice. Dry finish. Thin and dull blond. Marko (5930) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - JUL 19, 2008
Bottle bb Mar 2008, courtesy of and shared with heavy (thanks!)
Orangey golden body, ever so slightly hazy. Thick fluffy white head that slowly went away. Spicy yeasty nose, some dull honey and agrumes Some dust. Light sweet malty taste, remarkably pleasant, notes of candied orange, slightly sourish and yeasty. Extremely weak cardboard is the only indication that this is a bit old. A remarkably drinkable blond and a very pleasant surprise.
