Stor sødme, og lidt flad og kedelig. Ikke meget skum. Kun en anelse bitterhed i den. Alengrin (5629) - BELGIUM - JUL 15, 2014
Tasted under both the original name "Capucine" and the later name "Abdis", and like its blonde counterpart, this dubbel was discontinued when Moortgat took over Liefmans (and basically saved it from oblivion). Pale tan, thick and sticky head, colour a dim brown with a ruby glow when held under a source of light, revealing some protein veils; aroma of candi syrup, caramel candy, aniseed, curaçao, coffee grounds, sweet sherry, hazelnut, figue, corn, coriander; taste rather neutral at first with a sharpish carbonisation, then slightly becoming more sweetish with a hint of candi sugar and a hint of orange peel (curaçao), spicy tones of coriander and aniseed (fortunately not exaggeratedly so), mouthfeel somewhat sticky and oily, feels a bit artificial, and the sticky sweetishness carries on well into the finish, where it gets the company of a withheld roasted, coffee-like bitterness. 77ships (10771) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 6, 2013
2004 Vintage. 33 cl. bottle @ Kulminator. Pours very dark brown with ufo’s with a creamy beige head. Nose clearly reveals age, very heavy oxidation but the oxidation seems to have progressed in a good way, smells like liquorish, dark fruits, wine-notes and light chocolate but still think heavy oxidation. Taste reveals a beer that has aged well – probably too long – but simply was not a very good beer to begin with so it is an interesting one. Heavy oxidation notes, almost falling apart, dusty chocolate milk is prominent, nuts, wine notes, fading malts, sweet spices, candy sugar & liquorish. Body is light, close to but not watery. According to the menu this was the last year for this beer – no ratings prior to 2005 on here. So this may be from the brewery which made it before Riva. Same hideous nun depicted on the label. kraddel (8718) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JUL 3, 2013
