COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and Goudenband from different vintages, and can consist of between 15 and 20 different batches of beers. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a deep reddish-brown colour, with a pale head and wood and almond notes. On the palette, you can clearly taste the slightly sweet, yet at the same time gently bitter fruit flavours. This is a beer that just oozes class…

Nutty, earthy, and barnyardy, with a late-bursting fruitiness. Very nice.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2010 Bottle, 375ml corked. Clear, copper-golden body, with a beige head. Quite weak nose with cherries, a bit sweetish. The flavor is sweetish as well, with cherries and some cellar. Medium, sweetish mouthfeel. Long, sweet finish with some citrus notes. I find it too sweet, but it is certainly drinkable. Rating: 6-4-6-3-12-3.1. 070526

Bottle, 375ml corked and wrapped in paper. It pours an unclear, ruby body and a thin layer of off-white bubbles. Cherries, oxidation, cellar, dried fruits, brown sugar and a hint of vinegar. Sort of candy-like too. The flavor is sour yet sweet. Cellar, dried fruits, cherries, a hint of vinegar and a faint note of almond. Medium body, quite tart and palate cleansing even though it’s quite sweet. The finish has cherries on a vinegarish backdrop, with dried fruits and cellar. Pleasant and easy drinking, combining sweetness and sourness in a nice way. 101119

A: The pour is a cloudy dark ruby color with a slight cloud and a very mild off-white foam. S: A definite aroma of cherries, primarily sweet fruit flesh. I might pick up just a touch of vinegar in there. T: This one has quite a nice balance of sweet and sourness. The cherry flavor is fairly sweet, but a nice acetic tinge of sourness and perhaps even a bit of tannic feel on the finish. M: The body is medium with a low, smooth carbonation that actually tingles the tongue a bit. D: A really easy drinking kriek. Not overly tart, but still a nice balance and not medicinal or overwhelming sweetness.

On tap at christian firtal Odense: Dark rasperry red with fine white head. Sweetness and sourness from the cherries goes very well here. Both dominates. Nice & pleasant fresh finish. A great kriek!

(7:4:8:4: 14=3.7) 2012-09-28 - after pissy lagers, this crisp woody red plus sharp fruit is a winning combo

Hugely cherry aroma. Fairly lively palate, not harsh. Gloriously tasty - so easy to drink. Hugely cherry taste. Pure natural fruit - beautiful fruit beer. Crisp and cleansing on the palate.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2017 Bottle, 6%. Sweet, pruney aroma, a little acidic. Hazy dark red, pruney colour. Very small head. The flavour is quite sweet, some fat cherry. Also quite acidic, but not really enough to balance the berries. Rather pleasant, but has some tendency towards soft drink flavour. 5 3 6 3 16

Bottle, 6%. Cherry, marzipan aroma, seems acidic. Almost clear deep red colour. Small head, perhaps a hint of pink. The flavour is sweet and spritzy Quite sweet, but has a nice acidity to balance. Good mouthfeel. 6 3 6 3 15

Very nice dark red color, but that’s about it. Don’t like most fruitbeers and this was no exception unfortunately. Too sour.

Bottle, c&c, from Sun Devil in Mesa, AZ. Reddish/garnet color with a slight, lightly pinkish head. Aroma of tart cherry. Medium body with sharp carbonation. Flavor is very tart cherry. Not exactly sour, but certainly tending that way. Makes me wish I were in Belgium.
