COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and Goudenband from different vintages, and can consist of between 15 and 20 different batches of beers. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a deep reddish-brown colour, with a pale head and wood and almond notes. On the palette, you can clearly taste the slightly sweet, yet at the same time gently bitter fruit flavours. This is a beer that just oozes class…

2007 ’Kriekbier’, corked and nicely gift wrapped in label paper. Pours reddish brown, very thin beige head. Fruit juice smell, cider, vinegar - but not overpowering. Tastes of tart cherries, sweet n’ sour, less alive carbonation. Fruity wine palate on this whereas a gueuze might be more bubbly champagne.

Red, nice, dense head, quite high carbonation. Aroma: cherries, cherries, light caramel, some funky notes. Lightly sour, quite a lot of sweetness, Cherry flavour.

Bottle at The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a deep ruby colour with a medium light pink head. Aroma of sour cherry, slight wood and subtle vinegar. Taste of black cherry, some wood, slight tartness, a little caramel and subtle acidity. Medium bodied and a slick texture. A dry, subtle tart, cherry finish. Dry but tart, slightly acidic and woody cherry. A more refined cherry lambic.

I think it is a very special kriek. The taste is quite complex. IT’s woody, fruity, at the same time, and I can feel a bit coriander too. I think it is perfect for special events.

Bruin/donkerrood bier met witte schuimkraag. Geur: licht zuur, licht zoet, krieken. Smaak: idem als geur met wat amandel. Een prachtige balans, niet te zoet. Sprankelende koolzuurprikkel.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark red-brown with a tan colored head with a slightly reddish touch. The aroma is lightly acidic and fruity with cherries and raspberries. Medium soft body with a medium carbonation, a light prickling acidity and a light sweetness. The flavor is again full of raspberries and cherries, some pear, cherry flavored bubble gum with a light sweetish maltiness in the background. Overall very harmonic and rather fresh with a medium dry to dry finish.

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, wood, red fruit and cherry.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque red/black beer with a slight/medium beige/pink head.

Taste/Palate:
Medium sweet with malts, caramel, wood, red fruit and cherry.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Sweet with loads of wood and red fruit, but misses that sour edge at the end. The aroma is great and the palate is perfect however.

Sample at thyme Answer. Dark auburn with thin head. Smells like vinegar and cherry tootsie pop. Or teriyaki steak. Flavor is sweet first with a mild sour note. Smooth.

Pours a dark brown that actually reveals itself as dark red as the beer thins. Low off-white head, decent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is cherries drowned in a soft sugary/caramel feel, with vinegar and tart hints. Taste is mainly sweet and slighty sour. Caramel and slight chocolate malts, slight sugary sweetness, fresh cherries feel and mild vinegarish tartness. Light to medium bodied with delicate carbonation, very gentle and silky mouthfeel, but still capable of being pleasantly creamy if held in the mouth for a few seconds. It’s not super complex but it’s very very fine and well made, with a vivid, natural cherries feel, and even quite refreshing.

Keg at Barrow Hill Rail Ale. Pours cherry pink with an off white head. A little sour water to start then deep cherry hit. Fresh.

From old tasting notes. Dark reddish brown color, nearly opaque. Creamy brownish, tan head. Fruity sour cherry aroma. Tangy, sour cherry flavor upfront that fades to a sour malt midtaste, then a tart, dry finish. Aftertaste is long and flavorful. Noticeable strong alcohol flavor. Very flavorful. Well made and distinctive. Warm, soothing and delicious.
