Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Appearance: dark reddish brown, small off-white head. Great complex aroma, fruity sourness, apple and plums, but also some caramel and quite some vanilla. Nice woody aftertaste, and a bit funky, but not too much. Taste seems not as full as a few years ago. My favourite beer, Im very happy I can buy it close by. Once openend one after keeping it a year, and it was even better - maybe Ill do another rating of that later.

Flasche (75 cl, MHD: 10/2023, einige Jahre gelagert). - Tiefstes Kastanienbraun, dunkelbeigefarbener Schaum. Sehr gut!

Interesting. Good acidity and candy like fruity taste. Finnish a bit short but maybe my beer was too cold. Tasted draft at Le PLB Poitiers, France

Demens (376) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 5, 2017
0,33l bottle. From 2015. Thick, hazy deep ruby/brown colour with quickly shrinking and disappearing tan head. Aroma: First a winey/funky wine basement aroma with raisin, other dried fruits (sour cherry) with soft caramel, chocolate notes. Elegant and complex. Taste: Has a very fruity and tarty start (sour cherry, almond, chocolate, red wine) but also has a very soft/light bitter (and also sour) mouthfeel. Very gentle, oily texture. Has a very light acidic caracter. The alcohol is very well hidden, isnt noticable at all in the taste. Medium body with almost no carbonation. Medium lasting tarty finish. A fantastic sour ale.

Dark brown with nice reddish hints. Low off-white head, scarse retention and lacing. Aroma is vinous with fruity (expecially cherries) notes. Tartness is there but it feels quite soft with sugar bringing attenuation. Taste has a very good balance of sweet and sour notes, with none standing out. Chocolate malts, sugar, tart fruit (again, cherries), slightly vinous notes. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, pleasantly prickly on the tongue while still very easy and smooth. Hides the abv wonderfully and even feels quite refreshing. Overall this may not be the most complex sour out there but its so well balanced and drinkable. Very good stuff.

Sour cherries, apples, caramel and roasted chocolate - clashes a bit with the tart, low medium sourness and light tart, very light leather hay.
