Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

My first venture into Flemish Browns. Definitely a different beer. malty, and tart, I could drink these back to back to back. No sourness though, was looking foward to it.

Pours with an okay amount of fluffy foam. Color is dark brown, watery coffee like, clear. Aroma is unordinary being burnt, but also having some sort of anise liquor feeling to it. Also reminds a bit of Jgermeister. Hints of typical "sour" aromas of sour beers. Palate is well balanced. Carbonation feels a bit weak and too fine, but it might be suitable for this style. Actually, after drinking a bit more, I think the carbonation is actually on the spot for this style. Taste is hard to describe, but it tastes good. It has some of the typical tastes one would find in sour beers, but the good thing about this is that the sourness is not too pronounced. Rather its pleasantly balanced. There are definite Jgermeister notes in the taste again, but this time it reminds of a cocktail made with Jgermeister, such as the Jgerbomb. I dont consider the beer that complex, but it doesnt matter, because its still a very, very good sour beer. Mainly because of its balance and that nothing in it is overwhelming, but simply pleasant.

Riktigt gott.

Hazy brown, tall beige head. Aroma: candy, raisins, cherry, oak, sour fruit. Light to medium body. Complex taste. Lots of barrel, dark malts, dry. Fruity. Light to medium acidity. Tart finish. Very nice.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. It looks like cola. Aroma is fruity like apples and pears. Taste is sour with notes of apple and pear and hints of caramel, cherries and wood. The green apple flavour is surprising in such a dark, aged beer, and unfortunately its quite prominent. Im surprised how highly rated this is.

I normally dont enjoy sour ales that much but this one was great. The balance between sour and sweet is just fantastic.

Flasche (75 cl, MHD: 10/2023, einige Jahre gelagert). - Tiefstes Kastanienbraun, dunkelbeigefarbener Schaum. Sehr gut!

Interesting. Good acidity and candy like fruity taste. Finnish a bit short but maybe my beer was too cold. Tasted draft at Le PLB Poitiers, France

Demens (402) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 5, 2017
0,33l bottle. From 2015. Thick, hazy deep ruby/brown colour with quickly shrinking and disappearing tan head. Aroma: First a winey/funky wine basement aroma with raisin, other dried fruits (sour cherry) with soft caramel, chocolate notes. Elegant and complex. Taste: Has a very fruity and tarty start (sour cherry, almond, chocolate, red wine) but also has a very soft/light bitter (and also sour) mouthfeel. Very gentle, oily texture. Has a very light acidic caracter. The alcohol is very well hidden, isnt noticable at all in the taste. Medium body with almost no carbonation. Medium lasting tarty finish. A fantastic sour ale.
