Red-brown with no head. Aroma of cherry and malt, with a funky cellar note. Dry and tart flavour with sour cherries and a hint of funk. Quite refreshing

Bart (2936) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAY 31, 2013
Draught, Vintage 2006 @ Zythos 2013. Brownish red coloured beer with no carbonation and no head what so ever. Subtile light fruity sour oaky cherry noted aroma without a clear distinctive nose. Medium to full almost tart cherry fruity palate. Finish is light tart sour with an almost peppery fruit-stone fruity sour cherry hint. Depth of flavours. Very nice.

jfb (7128) - GERMANY - MAY 16, 2013
(draught) pours a clear ruby-amber colour with a frothy light pink head. aroma of cherries, marzipan and straw, summer foliage, lemon juice and a hint of raspberries. flavour is heavy raspberries and cherry juice, very sour, with lots of lemons, a hint of chestnuts and a dry finish, not exactly complex. medium-bodied with lively carbonation.

thewolf (12992) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 10, 2013
Tap @ ZBF 2013. Pours clear red with no head. Aroma has lots of cherries, caramel, elegant tartness. Medium carbonation, lovely dry mouthfeel. Flavour is topnotch, super sharp cherries, caramel, tart, fruity, soft vinegar. Elegant and very sour. Yum indeed.

Martinus (4751) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2013
Reddish brown colour, no head. Aroma of cherries, quite sour, wood and red fruits. Sour cherry flavour, light lemon, wine, some notes of pomegranate. Sour finish, fruit, red berries, astringent pomegranate seeds.
Lovely beer!
Draught @ ZBF beer festival, Leuven 2013. As "unblended". With thanks to the Belgian RateBeer crew for sharing! Courtesy of 77ships if I’m not mistaken)

MrW (776) - Mechelen, BELGIUM - APR 30, 2013
"Unblended" Sample @ZBF’13 Aromas of (over)ripe tart cherries, wet wood. Pours clear copperred, created a head that quickly faded away. Tastes of fruits, cherries and kriek, wood, some zeste of lemon or cherry peel. Nicely refreshing sour with a large taste. Makes me drool a lot ;) . Aftertaste is average in time, fruity and acid. A little bit of bitterness in it. I loved this. Really refreshing.

berntholer (1619) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 28, 2013
almost no head, slightly pinkish colour. cherry-red and clear beer. aroma of lactic acid but can’t really detect cherries in the nose. very nice tart taste, mild, sour cherry present but not extremely pronounced. nice long sour aftertaste. just a great, refreshing and well balanced sour fruit lambic. according to the bartender coming from one barrel from 2006, unblended and made with cherries from Limburg (Belgium). will be used in a Liefmans Cuvee Brut blend (can’t wait to try that one too). great stuff, really glad i had a chance to try this! tried at ZBF 2013 on tap on 27/04/2013

sebletitje (10547) - Enghien, BELGIUM - APR 28, 2013
Draft sample @ ZBF’13 shared with the RB Belgian crew. Wow, Liefmans is indeed going back to making actual true lambic without overlry sweetened flavours. I guess back to the way they used to be.

77ships (11601) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 27, 2013
Sampled draft @ ZBF 2013. Pours a bright red, ruby amber, head is only some bubbles, quickly gone. Nose is slightly watery but otherwise filled with tart cherries, more cherries than kriek for me here,… Taste is wonderfully tart (oh, yeah this is the real deal), nicely souring with tart red fruits, more sour cherries than kriek, light vinous touches, wonderfully fruity, hints pomegranate, hint pits,… Touch wattery,... Flat,… This is the real deal, wonderful, sourness is not light but overt and clearly there – this is great stuff, wouldn’t be too bad if they would share this more frequently with the world.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2013 27/IV/13 - on tap @ Zythos Bierfestival (2013-412) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing our beers today!

Clear ruby red beer, no head. Aroma: lots of cherries, sweet fruit, bit lemony. MF: nice carbon, light to medium body. Taste: very sour start, lemony, lots of sour cherries, fruity. Aftertaste: very sour again, lemony, but very refreshing, little bitter. Really nice sour cherry beer. We need more of this.
