2012 bottle shared at the February MDBG tasting. Hazy bronze, thin fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of cardamom, toffee, brown sugar, candied citrus. The taste is cardamom, candied citrus, booze, toffee. Medium bodied, boozy, hot. Aged very well. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JAN 21, 2016
2013 bottle. It pours a lightly hazed dark amber color with a small off white head. The aroma is full with rich bread and fruit. Lots of raisin bread, bourbon, caramel, fig... pretty nice actually. The flavor is the same. Raisin bread, bourbon, fig, and caramel. The cardamom is there, but has faded pretty profusely. There’s a very light hint of roast and nuts near the finish that aids in the dryness. The mouthfeel isn’t overly alcoholic or syrupy. Pretty drinkable for what it is. I really liked this one. I imagine the age has helped this one. koleminer20 (3594) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - AUG 31, 2015
Enjoyed at an all barley wine tasting at Travis’s house on February 21. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a coppery color with a medium khaki head and a couple spots of lace that stick around. The aroma is strongly spicy and slightly metallic. There is a lot of rye spice with a pretty strong pepper that I’m not really feeling. It carries the normal caramel, vanilla, oak, and a decent bourbon to go along with it, but the metallic and the pepperiness is such a turn off. The flavor has the dark sugars, dark fruits, caramel, bourbon, and a bit of syrup. The spiciness isn’t good. The mouth feel is thin and light. The carbonation is light ans almost makes it come off watery. The aftertaste is lingeringly spicy and malty

Bottle shared. Pours clear amber brown with a ring off white head. Aroma has unexpected floral notes upfront, with soap, vanilla, overripe fruits, oak, fairly light bourbon, caramel and toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet with the bourbon coming out stronger in the palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. deanso (10133) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - AUG 5, 2015
Bomber courtesy of and shared with Kermis.
Clear amber pour. Clear amber pour. Some vanilla. Low carbonation. Boozy. jazz88 (2679) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 5, 2015
Bottle. A murky amber color with a tan head. A very sweet, caramel, dark fruit aroma that carries through into the body. It seemed heavy and too sweet without enough of a bitter edge, or dark fruit edge, to keep it in balance. j12601 (11831) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - DEC 28, 2014
Bottle at James’ for the multi-K tasting. Pours a clear amber brown with a thin white head. Big booze and malt with a heaping spoonful of cardamom. Medium bodied, sweet with a bit more spice. Smooth vanilla and sweet caramel. Too sweet for me. Maltser85 (358) - Fargo, North Dakota, USA - AUG 8, 2014
Murky brown with an off white head. Aroma of oak, honey, vanilla, cardamom, some soft dark fruits, fig. Taste is similar, with less emphasis on the barrel, but still present. A tasty treat, will be great for the holidays.
