This was a good exemplar of its style. Appeared chestnut brown with a good collar of cream coloured head and aromas of biscuity malt, treacle and walnuts. Some gentle woodiness on the nose and in the flavour indicates some beautifully balanced hopping. In the flavour there is another good balance between sweet and savoury before it dries off nicely leaving not only a lingering flavour of hazelnut slice but a sense of satisfaction. Oh to try this off handpull. kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 28, 2013
The head is robust, the body brown. It smells maltaromatic, bitter, hoppy, flowery. The taste is maltaromatic, flowery, hoppy, darkmalty. NIce Brodies_Best (269) - Auckland Central, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 8, 2012
500 ml bottle. Pours amber with head that settles to a ring around the glass. Aroma is sweet, malty and of caramel/toffee. Taste is of toffee caramel with slight bitter aftertaste. Floral hops comes through but sweetness and caramel is still on the tongue. Medium bodied and very drinkable. bozoNZ (778) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 7, 2011

Bottle. Pours light coppery brown with an off-white head that lasts well. Aroma is nutty and malty with some subtle fruity notes, a little like walnuts and sultanas. Flavour is also fairly nutty, malty with hints of almonds, brown bread and citrus as well as a slight hop presence. Palate is quite dry with a lingering bitterness. Very nice, well made and highly sessionable. donfardz64 (538) - Wellington, New Zealand, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 1, 2009

Flavour is fruity - hint of toasted malt, vanilla, quite bitter in the mouth. Finish is toasty, bitter.
A drinkable, slightly complex fruity ale. Quite nice!
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a very pretty, warm, nutty brown with a rough, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts and nuts. Neat body with a good malt base and smooth, round nutty accents and a light, underlying sweetness. The finish is dry. Very well made. 200208
