2013-01-18 - with blankboy, jercraigs & mabel - bomber c/o blankboy. Slightly hazy very bubbly gold with an average rocky/frothy white head. Aroma is beautifully balanced - dry and floral with a little bit of pear sweetness. (8+). Taste follows - like a fruity lower alcohol trippel with extra spice - tasty. Average body, airy but not all that much carbonation (I know, I know, I always say that, but it’s what I felt), finishes quick and dryly floral - really really nice beer. August 20th, 2012 - I dragged Lighthouse’s Deckhand Saison all the way from a tiny little liquor shop embedded somewhere deep in downtown Victoria. I’m unsure why I wanted that beer over any other, but I did know I wanted to bring back a little bit of the Canadian brewing experience with me. The aroma is defined by a cluster of light, fruity scents, rich with esters, and most notably a banana like scent - sweet, but heavy and mellow. The palate also mimics a hefeweizen, with a fluffy, sudsy palate and texture, and more mild banana flavors. It’s only in the mid-taste that these fruit flavors recede and make room for the saison itself, introducing straw and bread flavors. There’s also a mild corn dimension that I don’t usually detect in saisons, but here I rather enjoyed it. This is a solid saison, that flirts with hefeweizen style qualities, but in the end, stays true to that ineffable, grainy quality that the style so wonderfully captures. UPDATED: NOV 1, 2013 Bottle - Orange and Belgian yeast. Clear gold with a rich white head. Very yeasty as I would expect from a Belgian but a bit bland for saison.
Second tasting - as above but lots of honey notes. mabel (10004) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2013
[5072-20130118] 650 bottle. Light lemon fruity saison yeast aroma. Slightly hazy, light orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Lightly bitter yeast flavour has some light lemon going on. Medium body. Quite nice. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

22oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Clear golden, slightly orange color. Thin off-white head. Couple loose dots of lace. Nice lightly citrusy hoppy flavor, light belgian candy sugar. Bigger body. Light carbonation, lightly dry finish. Moderately zesty, light sweet, light bitter taste, not bad. Solid Belgian Strong

22 oz. bottle shared by Danny- thanks again! Pours a clear gold color with a white ring for a head. Notes of sweet malts, crackers, straw, apricot, and honey. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Reminds me more of a tripel than a saison, or at least the take on the style I really like. b3shine (9257) - Indiana, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Bomber to snifter (thanks to whoever shared this one). Looks good for the style; a transparent orange with white head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells doughy, yeasty, and spicy with a bit of citrus. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid beer. blankboy (7865) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 29, 2013
My bottle [650ml] shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel. Pours a hazy gold with little floaties and an average size lasting frothy white head. Aroma: I love it! Belgian yeast, herbs, light hops, spices and fruit. Flavour’s just as good: Dry, spicy, yeasty and fruity along with herbs and a hint of spice. Medium bodied. A great Saison! jercraigs (11071) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 20, 2013
2012-01-18. Crisp dark yellow with a small white head. 3+ Moderately alcoholic, lightly yeasty, Saison aroma, lightly funky, more nuanced than I am grasping at this point I suspect. 7++ Flavour is quite pleasant, dry but sort of fruity, modest yeasty funk, moderate bitterness throughout. 7++ Smooth average body. Dangerously drinkable, the alcohol is surprisingly restrained. Very nice. Bottle shared by Blankboygramity (1684) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 29, 2012
"Those are floor Cheetos though..."
Hazy golden orange with a large foamy head which disipates quickly. Fruity esters dominate the aroma, spices and herbs create a complex citrusy, yeasty Belgian flavor, medium bodied with high carbonation. This beer just kept tasting better and better, I should have gotten two!
