3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
More IPA than Belgian Black. A shockingly good hybrid. Dark pour disguises a citrus flair that hits strong off the top. An almost orange taste gives way to the more herbal hoppiness and toasty malts you would expect. I like both the source beers and loved their unholy union. Too bad this was a one-time-only offering on cask at the Beagle.

(cask) Sampled at the Beagle in Cook Street Village on April 9, 2012, for $6.50. Pours a slight transparent brown-black with little head. Nose is highly malted with a good pine base. Flavour is strongly hopped with a nice toasted front. Interestingly, I like both Switchback IPA and Belgian Black more separately as the subtlety of each is over-powered but all in all another great Lighthouse concoction. Nice work Dean et al.
