This hoppy IPA is 80 IBUs and 6.5% alc/vol. Citra, Zythos and Falconer’s Flight hops combine to produce citrus, stone fruit and tropical flavours. The assertive bitterness of these hops is nicely balanced by medium bodied, fresh malt characters. Switchback IPA is a Pacific Northwest style IPA.

Jaune/cuivre avec un petit col blanc. L’arôme des agrumes et un peu de fruits tropicaux. Le goût est d’agrumes avec un peu du malt. Corps moyen. Un bon IPA du région.

Clear golden coliur with a small moderately dense head. Strong resinous aroma, slight sweetness on the smell. Not as biting as I would have hoped, but the mouthfeel is quite nice. Mildly bitter, slightly grassy, short aftertaste. Sparkling and well balanced with a decent body to it.

The aroma is nice fresh hops, flowers, earth. The appearance is amber, white head. The flavor is flowers, citrus, pine. The finish is citrus, flowers. Medium in body. Nicely done.

Typical/Archetype NW IPA. Solid hop profile. High on the bitterness spectrum. Likely served a little too cold. Rounded out nicely after warming up.

Strong citrus grapefruit up front, followed by sweet/caramel malts. There is a light lingering pine taste and a strong but not overpowering bitterness.

Smells of tropical fruit with a hint of malt. Pours amber colour, large carbonation bubble visible with a light head with mostly fine bubbles. Tastes slightly sweet with caramel, pineapple, citrus like, lightly floral. Medium body, large carbonation, astringent and bitter finish. A decent beer, good flavour, but I would like to see more malty flavours to round out the bitterness a bit more.

Dull amber, thin head aroma is caramel and fruity, slightly citrusy hop. Has some nice sweet lychee character, soft caramels, and maybe a little overripe peach. Ok.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2015 Rating #1019 - March 9, 2014 - Bought in celebration of new job. #hint. Clear golden amber pour with a weak, white head that bubbles away to a ring. Aroma is strong with hoppy overtones, grapefruit, citrusy, toasted malt. Taste is more of the same, dry hops and cookie dough malts dominating the flavour, with a hint of sweetness. Finish is dry, but balanced and satisfying. Delicious. Up there with central city, among the best Canadian IPAs

355ml brown bottle. Pours golden, fairly clear. Small white cap with lots of leftover foam in the glass. Hoppy nose with big citrus and a bit of fruit. Taste has grapefruit and orange notes, clean and dry malt base. Aftertaste is grapefruity, medium bitterness. Medium bodied, average carbonation. A solid IPA and a good value for the $.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2014 Drank out of the bottle. Aroma was delightfully hoppy and clear notes of citrus. Taste was hoppy with notes of pineapple, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, misc citrus, pine, etc. A delicious beer that is both crisp and refreshing. A new favourite of mine!
