November 29th, 2014 - Lightning Brewery’s Kolsch is a cup of little crisp, dry joy. Straw colored and light, it gives off the slightest smell of cereals and grains, though it is almost invisible, thanks in part to the tiny sampling cup I am making do with. The flavor is slightly bitter, but features a very long aftertaste, which is both clean and crisp. BeerandBlues2 (13669) - Escondido, California, USA - OCT 4, 2015
Tap at the brewery. Pours hazy yellow with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is creamed corn, Pils malt, and earthy hops with a light fruitiness. Flavor is light floral hops and bitterness, Pils malt and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation. Marheb (5907) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 30, 2015
Fromagé, croustillant un brin ferreux et zesty. Rien de spectaculaire ni de très traditionnel mais l’astringence est modérée, c’est un gros plus. snoworsummer (5917) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 28, 2015
Draft at the brewery. Pours clear fold with a fizzy white head and decent lacing. Tastes like musky citrus hops, light spice, toasted malt. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky dry citrus hops, toasted malt, straw, and a bit of sweet dough. jandd1983 (4447) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - OCT 27, 2014
On tap at the brewery. It poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma was of sweet grains, malts and hops. The taste had a little fruit with a light sweet grain backbone with a touch of fruity esters. Nice.

On-tap at Stone as Lightning Kellar Kolsch. Pours cloudy orange with a creamy, white head, weird filmy lace. Smells yeasty and bready grainy, sweet. Tastes malty and grainy bready sweet, slightly spicy. Medium body, ok carbonation. chrisafari (100) - Orange, California, USA - AUG 20, 2008
Pours medium golden with thin rim of a head. Aroma is sweet fruit and estery. Flavor begins with sweet bananas and dry hops and finishes with a dry hoppiness. Medium bodied. Seems a little off style for a kolsch. Dogbrick (13412) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 7, 2008
Sample at San Diego Brewing Company. Pours a murky dark gold color with a minimal white head that diminishes to nothing. Top stringy ring of lacing with nothing under it. Sweet fruit and spices in the nose, plus a bit of malt. Light-bodied with a fruity character and flavors of spice and earthy malts. The finish is sweet and fruity leaving a sweetness behind. Decent overall. bluemeow76 (693) - Lewis Center, Ohio, USA - JUN 29, 2008
On draft at San Diego Brewing Company. No head, thin lacing. Great flavor for type. Thick, sweet & spicy. A nice drink. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 28, 2008
Yellow gold colored beer with a big bubbly head reminiscent of every Lightning beer I have drank. Sweet grainy aroma. Light fruitiness. Light sweet grain flavor with a touch of fruity esters.
