Bottled. A dark amber beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and bread, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

33cl bottle @ home. Clear dark red brown color, medium to full sized off-white to beige head that leaves fair lacing. Smell malts, dark malts, sugar. Taste malts, slightly dark fruits, sugar and sweetness. Medium, maybe a bit low carbonation, low to medium body.

bierkoning (13607) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - DEC 11, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown color. Maltaroma with soft caramelly notes. Caramelly sweet flavor, hopped enough to show hints of grass. Just a hint of licorice. A bit sticky in the aftertaste, but overall a nice clean doppelbock.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours almost clear dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, bready . Taste is moderate sweet, smooth malts, nice doppel, but nothing extraordinary.

Erzengel (9348) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - AUG 28, 2015
Nice smooth but a bit rough beginning. Sweetish-sticky body with hints of dried fruit. Very rich, sweetish and intense. Malty-sticky-sweetish, nearly no bitterness. Too much sweetness for me.
