COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

Bottle. Pours a dark body with nice head, great look. Aroma is of grapes, black mission figs, faint berries. Flavor is sweet and tart berry, grapes. A little syrupy. This is my favorite Lindemans fruit Lambics by far.

Grapejuice pour with a pinkish head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is sugary with currants, minor barnyard notes. Very sugary, very sweet. Sorta enjoyable, but not a real lambic.

375ml bottle. Pours grape juice purple with a red pinkish head like nothing I have every seen. Aroma is sweet and fruity full of currant. The taste is sweet and very faithful to the black currant its based on. Obviously a particular style of lambic, seperate from the traditional ones, but nonetheless its tasty.

Huge deep red creamy head that lasted a very long time. Then left thick lacing on top. Somewhat clear and very dark red colour. This was a lovely blackcurrant aroma with some fruit and fresh apple, hint of vinegar and citrus and what felt like somewhat dusty feel in nose. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Light to moderated and well balanced sweet and sour flavour. Excellent blackcurrent finish. The best blackcurrent beer that I have ever had!

750ml bottle from Florianís. Pours virtually opaque dark red-purple with nearly no head. Leaves a little lacing as it goes. Smells fruity, like berries (black currants Iím sure, though Iíve never had them). Full-flavored with berries at the forefront with a good amount of sourness toward the finish (though on overpoweringly so). Slightly woody in its flavor as well. Wow, this flavor is great - one of the best tasting fruit beers Iíve had. Much less carbonation than I expected, could use a little more in my humble but true opinion. Otherwise, medium bodied. Drinkable for what it is, but is a bit more of a sipper. Overall, an excellent beer and one of the finest fruit beers Iíve had - better than the raspberry version.

Aroma of, what else, black currants. [From Wikipedia: "Blackcurrants have a very sweet and sharp taste. They are made into jelly, jam, juice, ice cream, cordial and liqueur. In the UK, Europe and Commonwealth countries, some types of confectionery include a blackcurrant flavour, but this is generally missing in the United States, even within the same brand. Instead grape flavour in candy (including grape jelly) almost mirrors the use of blackcurrant in both its ubiquity in the USA, and its rarity on the eastern side of the Atlantic."] An aromatic high. Clear ruby color. A whitish pinkish head that stays for awhile and trys to lace. Medium mouthfeel. Starts with a fruity sweet/sour balance that puckers the mouth. The lambic sour is balanced by the fruit sweetness. Get some imported black currant jelly for your toast. Toast, sour cream and bc jelly. This lambic is sort of the liquid version. To die for. Unless you can get dark chocolate with cacao nibs. Which goes very well with this ale. Magnificent.

Dark red with massive foamy pink head. Nice sour nose with berry overtones. No where near as sweet as I expected coming from Lindemans, with a smooth, thick sour finish.

Large bottle shared by akevitt at our weekly beer rating group meeting. Pours a dark grape-juice purple brew with a thick fizzy reddish violet head. The head stay around and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is ripe dewberries, powdered sugar, and tart currants. Taste is syrupy with high carbonation and a touch of yeast. Finish is tart/sour and thick.

Bottle. Poured a rushing, deep purple with at first a large foamy head, that dissipated to a small, light head. Aromas of mostly blackberries, some sugary sweetness. Flavor is a bit tart at first, then sour, then a really nice grape bubblegum comes out. A really delicious beer.

Happy 29th Birthday to my wife!

April 21, 2007 - Today was my wifeís 29th birthday and so she received a bottle of Lindemanís Cassis Lambic as part of her gift from me (she has really been wanting to try this one). These tasting comments are mostly hers... Lindemanís Cassis Lambic is really pretty. It is purple in color (like grape juice) and transparent with a foamy pinky-purple head. The head lasts the entire time and leaves delicate, feminine lacing. The aroma is currants with a hint of funk (musty?) and yeast. The flavor is definitely currant all around and it has a moderate level of sweetness. [I also thought that is had some ripe mulberry taste and tartness to it.] The mouthfeel is thicker than expected (like thin syrup), but well received. There is some sparkling sensation on the palate, but it isnít overdone (light carbonation). It is also very smooth and nice to drink. Overall my wife thought that this was a very good and interesting Lambic. She enjoyed the different and farily uncommon fruit, but didnít think that the Black Currant was quite as good as the Lindemanís Peach or Raspberry... Happy Birthday!
