Bottle at the brewery during Toer de Gueze 2017. Hazy deep red color. Pleasant aroma full of cherries and touch of funk. Sour cherries, red wine, vinegar, lemon. Light-bodied, fizzy and refreshing. Great.

750 ml bottle from Everett’s in South Beloit, IL, started at 10 minutes out of the fridge from a Lindeman’s glass. Pours with a thick, foamy pink head that, expectedly, dies quickly atop a deep burgundy body...nose is sweet cherry-dominated; while there is a brett, farmy characteristic, it’s fairly subdued and is almost overwhelmed by the cherry (and a touch of vanilla) as it warms; there’s also a slight oily nuttiness present...thankfully it’s not just a fruit bomb on the tongue, and the lambic character does come through, with only a touch of fruit sweetness, high acidity, and the dryness and sourness at the finish is fairly substantial - not quite mouth-puckering but certainly there...reasonably full though perhaps not as full as some others, strong carbonation but a bit of oiliness to the mouthfeel in the end. Pretty solid all in all, not a world-beater but also not something I have to travel the world to get...

W aromacie wiśnie i końska derka - dobry balans. W smaku mega kwaśność, wiśnie, wysokie wysycenie, pestkowość, końskie nuty raczej niewyczuwalne. Wysoce przypomina kompot. Bardzo dobre piwo!

This was alternatingly extremely tart and quote sweet. Very pink head and red body, this wasn’t very enjoyable to me. Just too tart and sweet.

Tart, fairly low carbonation and really, really crisp and with super fresh cherries. Sour and summery.

750 ml bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a clear red with a fizzy pink head of foam. No head retention. Aroma has big notes of cherry skins, oak, and some hints at chocolate. Fairly acidic and fruity taste. Medium body and high carbonation. Pretty good!

Lindemans makes some of the most affordable and accessible Lambics out there, but I forget that they sometimes brew things that are downright lovely. Cuvee Rene is one of the lovely ones. Deep red hazy pour. Nose reveals a gorgeous balance between tart cherry and earthy funk. Same goes for the taste, and you get subtler touches of raspberry and horse. Fizzy, acidic body. Not too sweet, not too sour. Fantastic.

Bottle. Dark rose in colour with spritzy carbonation. Aromas are of sweet cherry, mild barnyard, earth, and florals. More sweet cherry on the palate along with dried out wood, and some mild funk. Perhaps a hint of vanilla in there too. Light bodied with a moderate amount of acidity and sourness. Not as bombastic as a 3F or Cantillon beer, but definitely the real deal.
