Our traditional Kriek Cuvée René Grand Cru is brewed with wild yeast from the surrounding air, water, malted barley, wheat, aged flower hop flowers and selected wild cherries. Deep cherry red clear body, tart taste with a moderate sourness and an authentic cherry skin presence. No added sugar.

Note: ABV known to be in the 5%-7% range, seemingly depending on the batch.

I love this. It’s a little too tart for me though, but that’s what it’s supposed to be.

Wildly underrated? Is it because people associate Lindemans with the fruit soda lambics that they pump out? This beer is a standout Kriek in my opinion. Ruby purple color with light pinkish head. Aroma is rich cherry juice, cherry skins, and light citric notes. Taste is quite tart but the fruit is definitely present and balancing with a mild funk. I paid 10.99 for this bottle and Im willing to bet if any American brewery sold this beer it would cost $29.99 and be rated a 4+.

37,5cl Bottle from Belgium in a box; pours deep red to brown with big red to pinkish head which disappears fast; aroma is funky sour with wood, slightly sweet fruity, hardly any cherry; taste is sweet fruity, cherry apples, fades into high sourness with funky bitter and very dry finish; high carbonation, slightly oily mouthfeel; too sour [bottled 21.03.2014, rating: 17.11.2016]

Bottle. Purple pour, small White head. Nose is sour, not great. Taste nice and sour, with and abrupt bitter finish. Pretty good overall. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Bottle shared by Justin from Beaumont Market. Colour...dark garnet-ruby with a thick pink head. Nose...cheesy cherries, funky must and phenolic fruits. Palate...ultra tangy and vigorously tart, with cherries jubilee and cherry lemonade. The entire palate stays tart and dry and finish is long and gleeky.

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, cherries, citrus, tart, horse blanket and brettanomyces.

Appearance:
Opaque pink/red beer with heavy yeast and with

Taste/Palate:
Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts and cherries; ends slightly/medium dry and sour with citrus, tart, horse blanket and brettanomyces.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. No idea what they did, but it feels like there is only a bit of cherry added to a regular Geuze. The appearance tells otherwise though and is truly amazing. Could have had more cherries to make it more sweet and sour, but especially more a Kriek.

Bottle, Carwyn Cellars, Melbourne. Legit delicious. Syrupy and glorious but not sweet. Sour as all hell, reminds me of a red Warhead. A solid punch at 7%. Needs to be sipped. Purchase it.

750ml cork and cap bottle at home as ’Lindemans Grand Cru Oude Kriek Cuvée René’, 7%, bottled Dec 2015. Very dark ruby, highly sparkling, foamy pale pink head. Aroma is rich dark cherries, lime oil, musty, oak and those dirty-yet-fruity lambic notes that are so hard to describe. Body is light, spritzy carbonation, smooth. Taste is quite tart and tangy, creamy cherry yoghurt, lemon tartness, touch salty, sharpness cuts through everything. Flavourful, sweet and rich but not that complex for style. Still - very good.

Aroma isred currant, cherry, some champagne, marzipan. Taste is disturbingly sour with very little fruity sweetness. Really dry mouthfeel long sour finish, very refreshing. Quite nice actually.

Mörkröd öl med ett lättare rosa skum. Doft av körsbär, lätt fruktsyrlighet och lätt funkighet. Detsamma återkommer i smaken.

Deep wine-like red hue with a thin bubbly white head. Odd earthy acidic nose with some red cherries and light herbal sourness. Bright sour earthy acidic flavor that’s old world and woody and has some dark cherries. Weird and earthy and a little acidic without the fruity tart bright sour tones I normally like. Lightly funky and could use more sweet or tart cherries, either/or.
