Draft. Pours a reddish amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel finish. DocJitsu (2015) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a dark reddish amber with a short antique white head. Aroma is characterized by a nutty caramel character. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Nutty flavor with some ripe fruit esters as the hop character emerges. Interesting how the Northern Brewer hops come to life at the finish despite the appearance. Deceiving. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - SEP 21, 2012
On draft at Beer Rev. It pours a nice deep red color with an orangy head. The aroma has some red fruit hoppiness with a dense, complex maltiness. The flavor is dry and toasty/malty with a good earthy and lightly piney dry bitter finish. Very good dark lager. Ratman197 (15109) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - SEP 2, 2012
On tap at Linden Street poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, toffee and graininess. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toffee and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering toffee finish. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - AUG 30, 2012
On tap in Oakland. Clearish deep amber with a thick, foamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, biscuit and plenty of fruity esters. Taste is more caramel and fruity flavors with a mild hop bitterness. Medium body and average carbonation. More like an amber ale to me, not so light and clean.

On tap at Cato’s AleHouse in Oakland, CA. Pours dark red with very little head. The aroma is elusive, but I can sense some caramel malts and spice. Flavor is weak at first, but broadens out in the finish. Sharply bitter with bready malt flavor. Astringent finish. I have to say that this is a very middle-of-the-road beer. rayOfBeer (674) - El Cerrito, California, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Tap: pours dark red/amber with small off-white head. Aroma was soft with vegetal hop and a fruity maltiness. Flavor was off with cooked vegetable, malt, and as the beer warmed a caramel and roast grain started to come out. Palate was malty but mostly bitter. Overall, I was wanting something else. I had high hopes having like Linden streets other beers but found myself disliking this one. I drank half and gave the rest away. Maybe this one was just off, I may try again to make sure. bb (9695) - Alamo, California, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Draft. Mahogony beer with a cream head. Malt and light woodsy aroma. Malt and woodsy flavor with light pine and light grapefruit. Medium bodied. Malt and woodsiness lingers with light grapefruit and light pine.
