Flip-top bottle:Amber coloured, quite stable off-white creamy head, distinctive mix of toasted, sweet malt and aromatic hops in the aroma; moderate bitter sweet flavour, very soft MF, light medium bodied; only slightly sweetish, mainly "wooden" hoppy lingering finish. A very fine sample from good old Franconia......

50 cl bottle @ Timo A.
Pours dark copper color with a small head. Aroma of dry malts, dried fruits, some ash, cellar notes and some grass. Flavor of dry malts, toasty even, dark fruits, yeast, ash and dry chocolate. Somewhat unique brew, more like a dunkel than a märzen.

MoritzF (9803) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - MAR 27, 2007
(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a medium-sized, slightly beige foamy head. Aromatic, sweet malty, slightly roasted aroma with light notes of caramel, liquorice and a distinctive spicy herbal hoppy touch. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Toast-malty base with roasted notes and caramel plus a herbal touch from behind. Medium-dry, slightly sweet malty and moderately bitter, herbal hoppy finish. Very quaffable and pretty well-balanced Festbier.

MartinT (9765) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 20, 2017
My Bottom Line:
Slick toasted caramel and earthy orange fruitiness meet in this deep Festbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the clear amber.
-Malt flavors are superbly round and expressive. The brewery’s signature, clearly.
-Drinkability is rather high for the style.
-If they have a Bock based on this recipe, I’m sure it would be amazing.

Bottle.

bottle from bierzwerg. Clear brown colour with an amber glow, large beige head. Full-bodied, pleasantly malty with intensive hints of chcolate and caramel. Well rounded with some nice aromatic hops in the lingering finish.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2013 Note: I beg you to ignore the ticker-tasting ratings from bottles shared among a dozen people - such treatment of a well-crafted lager intended to be enjoyed as a full serving is shameful.
Rating: draft at Brauerei Lindenbräu
clear deep chestnut brown body with a small, finely-bubbled off-white head. patchy, long-lasting lacing. rich sweet toffee Munich malt nose with bright calcium and other minerals. exceptionally clean and fluid on the tongue with rich and soft carbonation. deep and layered toffee, caramel, sweet baked pastries, chestnut oil, acorns and other various toasted nut life. toasty and bready with a soft explosion of low carbonation across middle and back of the tongue. not an off-note to be found. lengthy clean and rich toffee malt finish.
