Tap at the brewpub. An amber beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet nutty, but quite faint. The flavor is dry nutty and bisquety, and with a grassy bitter end. OK bitter.

On tap at the brewpub

Bright bronze colour. Very toasty, fresh malty character. Earthy yeast, woody hops. Complex, flavourful English ale. Takes on a bitter, ashy character over the course of the pint.

Golden copper ale with a thick off-white head. Light caramel and pungeant light hops. Good malt base with nutty notes, flagrant hops and citrus" medium bodied, with a great fragrant bitterness. My dad was flabbergastered!

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2007 Caramelized cereals delve into diacetyl realms in the aroma...Leafy hops succeeded in balancing out the svelte maltiness...The tap version at the brewery is way too fizzy for my tastes in the style, but remained a decent, drinkable pint...This tap version was thus not more interesting than the bottled version, as I had hoped...

Long arrière goût. Palette: Corps moyen. Texture crèmeuse. Forte amertume en arrière goût. (Ratin #70)

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a clear amber with an average size diminishing fluffy white head. Very nice UK hop aroma along with some fruit and caramel malt, it smells great. Tasty flavour of floral and citrus hops with some caramel malt and a long spicy bitter finish. Body’s a touch thin. A great ESB, we were all shocked that such a nice version of the style was from Quebec and not the UK -- very well done.

Radek Kliber (7368) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - MAY 26, 2005
Soft velvety aroma, of toasted malts, slightly woody in character Medium carbonated ale with small but dense head. Green raw vegetable like bitters up front than followed by carbonation and finally sweet malt. Finish was rather weak leaving light touch of hops around and mineral metallic middle.

Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, tupalev’s bottle. Beautiful clear refractive amber with a large, lasting fluffy beige head, pillowy lacing left behind - almost a 5. Funky, rich UK hop aroma, dry, bitter, spicy, citrus rind - not much malt but who cares; pungent - excellent. My first thought on tasting was "weed!" - tastes very hempy- all of the above hop character, some fresh grain, slight grassiness in the finish, but this is an amazing ESB - tons of hops, very fresh and dry, almost sour alphas in the finish. Thick, dry mouthfeel, incredibly astringent - this tastes like a fresh cask bitter, I have a hard time believing this is bottled - excellent.

2005 bottle shared with bucknaked, 4/29/2005. Light brown color, with hints of auburn, sediment present. Head is yellow-flecked white, large and creamy, with good retention and lacing. Aroma of light Belgian? yeast, some fruitiness, floral hops and a sticky caramel malt. Flavor is lightly bitter at first with plenty of sweet caramel and toffee, great body on it. Hops get a bit earthy on the end, moderately bitter, but staying quite flavorful. Yeastiness present, with a very even mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very enjoyable if somewhat off-style, like the Vache Folle ESB.
