Very black with thin beige foam. A simple, very drinkable, stout. Taste roasted, hint of coffee and a light black chocolat aftertaste. The bitterness is medium-low but you can taste the herbal hop. It’s overall a good stout, you’ll probably want a second pint.

500 ml bottle from La Barik. Pours a fairly dark brown with average-sized tan head. Aroma is roasty and moderately sweet with coffee and dark chocolate. Fairly roasted coffee in the taste with some dark chocolate sweetness. Modest coffee-ish bitterness in finish, but also a bit of lactic sourness. Nothing extra special but a serviceable stout.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt is more intense then I was expecting. Taste is quite dry with some roasted malt and dry coffee notes – somewhat more intense then I had expected. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed though maybe a tad too dry for my taste.

Boring dark brown-black body and modest head. Aroma of alcohol and sweet fruity barley. Flavour is a bland barley with a bit of a dry finish, medium mouthfeel. It’s an incredibly average concoction of a stout.

Bouteille 500 ml. 4.8%. Couleur noire comme la nuit. Mousse beige fugace.

Bottle shared with JerC (old rate). Pours a deep black with a decent tan head. Slightly sour and roasted aroma, mild chocolate. Taste is overly roasted and strong. Perhaps a tad thin for this style though decent and certainly better than Guinness.

Nose is great: coffee, chocolate, nuts. Too high carbonation and soooo acid. Metal. Disappointing.

Bottle. Dark brown with a fair brown head. Not quite right metallic chocolate pudding and dark cocoa scent. Flavour is aluminum foil and cocoa, my teeth hurt.

500 ml bottle from Depanneur Peluso, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fair mocha head. Aroma: Some nice sweet malts, fruity, caramel, molasses, milk chocolate, lighter coffee, dark chocolate, nice. Palate: Medium-ish body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Not at all like the nose, borderline infected, organic acids, nasty; dry with mainly acids and an unpleasant bitterness.

The nose had so much potential. The flavour was seriously lacking. Drain pour.
