Bottle, shared with GregClow, Hogtown Harry, and Blankboy, courtesy of Harry. Pitch black, decent sized beige head. Nice roast aroma - very strong - not much else except the roast. Very dry roast taste up front. Not enough body to back it up - a little watery. Lovely roast linger, revealing hints of chocolate. Good stout, very enjoyable, nice presentation. Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev - my bottle, via trade with Lubiere. Deep ruby-black (not quite opaque with a large foamy light brown lasting head. Aroma is dry, roasty, some sour cherry and light cola to go with mild coffee and slight sour dark chocolate malt. Flavour - dry! - very dry and oily roast malt, quite bitter, long finish, no fruit in sight. Very astringent mouthfeel, creamy and dry - really fine dry stout - you paying attention, Guinness?? On tap. Aroma has roast coffee, liquorice and a hearty malt, black as coal, pours a tiny tan head. Flavour is of regular coffee, bitter chocolate, with a malty backbone. Light bodied, but very bitter and dry. Terrific treat! Thanks to

Pours a black color with brown highlights with a thick light brown head that leaves lines of lace on the pint glass. Strong and appealing aroma of roasted malt, hops and coacoa. The flavor is very good with its rich roasted malt, powdery coacoa and hops, it finishes bitter. The body is light to medium with a dry, powdery texture and moderate carbonation. A very good stout. Deep dark stout with a thick lacing onctuous moka head. A good mix of bitter chocolate and floral hops in aroma, quite american in character. In mouth, dry roasted chocolate malt with a weaker body than expected, classy and pleasant. Bottle from Joanette, 3.29$, in a pint glass.

C’est Guinness, mais meilleur. Très bon goût roti et de café, avec un arrière goût légèrement amère de chocolat noir. Bravo! tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 31, 2006
Strong roasted barley in the nose with underlying cereal malt sweetness. Opaque black body is topped by a low, fine bubbled, brown head that recedes to a thin, partial cover and ring. Licorice notes to the strong roasty flavour with some very dark chocolatey bitterness that lasts on the tongue. Very dry medium body with lively carbonation that prickles the tongue. Snifter. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Peluso, Jan-05).

Robe noire aux reflets bruns surmontée d’une mousse beige persistente. Arômes de café, de chocolat et de malts caramélisés. Saveurs de café, malt torréfiés et de houblon aromatique et amérisants. Bel équilibre. Belle rondeur.
