500 ml bottle from La Barik. Pours a fairly dark brown with average-sized tan head. Aroma is roasty and moderately sweet with coffee and dark chocolate. Fairly roasted coffee in the taste with some dark chocolate sweetness. Modest coffee-ish bitterness in finish, but also a bit of lactic sourness. Nothing extra special but a serviceable stout.

500 ml bottle from Depanneur Peluso, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fair mocha head. Aroma: Some nice sweet malts, fruity, caramel, molasses, milk chocolate, lighter coffee, dark chocolate, nice. Palate: Medium-ish body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Not at all like the nose, borderline infected, organic acids, nasty; dry with mainly acids and an unpleasant bitterness.

The nose had so much potential. The flavour was seriously lacking. Drain pour.

Pours a black color with brown highlights with a thick light brown head that leaves lines of lace on the pint glass. Strong and appealing aroma of roasted malt, hops and coacoa. The flavor is very good with its rich roasted malt, powdery coacoa and hops, it finishes bitter. The body is light to medium with a dry, powdery texture and moderate carbonation. A very good stout.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy & tupalev - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Deep, deep brown with a medium sized tan head. Very dry, roasty aroma with notes of coffee and cocoa powder. Flavour is very dry and roasty as well, with some nice hop bitterness in the finish. A very good example, right on style.

Viper666 (3286) - Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
Bouteille 500ml.

On tap. Aroma has roast coffee, liquorice and a hearty malt, black as coal, pours a tiny tan head. Flavour is of regular coffee, bitter chocolate, with a malty backbone. Light bodied, but very bitter and dry. Terrific treat! Thanks to Robert and Caroline Hughey and their friend Gary!

C’est Guinness, mais meilleur. Très bon goût roti et de café, avec un arrière goût légèrement amère de chocolat noir. Bravo!

Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 20, 2006
Bottle, shared with GregClow, Hogtown Harry, and Blankboy, courtesy of Harry. Pitch black, decent sized beige head. Nice roast aroma - very strong - not much else except the roast. Very dry roast taste up front. Not enough body to back it up - a little watery. Lovely roast linger, revealing hints of chocolate. Good stout, very enjoyable, nice presentation.
