2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bought in a shop in Sri Lanka. I brought this beer home from my holiday to Sri Lanka but unfortunately about 25% of the beer managed to seep through the top into my suitcase. As it was a 625 ml bottle I still had a fair bit to taste. Anyway, I wasn’t a great lover of it however despite it being the strongest beer I’ve ever tried I didn’t think the alcohol was overpowering and this was more than drinkable. So although not a thumbs up from me It’s still the best strong beer I’ve tried.
Cotteridge Convention III – May 2017 - Can shared at Cotts. Big thanks! As ’Lion Strong Beer’, 8.8%. Golden yellow, clear and still, foamy light brown head. Aroma is apple, cracker malts, sugary. Body is light, tingly carbonation, frothy. Taste is spicy, cracker-like malts, rounded malts, some apple, touch of booze. Very drinkable. Good for the style. A: Dark yellow with a small-medium white head.
N: Lots of malt sweetness
T: Still a fair amount of sweetness, but not enough to make the beer seem heavy. Bitterness takes a back seat.
O: Not overly complex, but deceptively easy drinking. A couple of these and you’ll be on your ear.

Another beer I tried at the 3rd Cotteridge Tasting on 20th May 2017. Cheers Mrs Scopey for this offering. The can gave up a clean and clear golden bodied liquid which produced a small white head as it settled. The aroma and taste were malty, grainy and pretty sweet from start to finish. My sweet tooth taking to it instantly. The beer was actually a lot better than I expected for a ’tramp juice’. Can shared @CWC III, thanks to Mrs Scopey, cheers for the Malt Likka Lorna. Golden beer with small head. Aroma of malts. Taste is malts, corn and syrup. Love it. Scopey (15522) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 23, 2017
Can at Cotteridge Convention 2017. It pours clear yellow with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, white bread, cornbread and white sugar. The taste is smooth, white bread, cornbread, sugary, straw and a decent hit of alcohol. Finish is sweetish and chewy. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Drinks pretty smooth considering.

Can at CWC III; clear light yellow pour with a bubbly white head, aroma has big sweet malts, taste has sweet corn syrup, quite big alcohol presence that the sweetness almost handles. Mr_Pink_152 (5437) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2017
Can shared at 3rd Cotteridge Convention 2017. Clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma malty grain, taste light sweet. Ok. harrisoni (19194) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 20, 2017

Bottle at home. Unpleasant aroma of artificial substances, alcohol and corn. Malty, sweetish taste with metallic notes. Awful. Turtles (2899) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 18, 2017
325ml bottle from a friend, bought in Sri Lanka. Clear golden, small white head, some lacing. Fruity aroma, cherries, woody, malty and leafy. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, fairy smooth and some alcohol burn in the mouthfeel. Weird mid-tart, fruity and sweet taste, cherries, woody, malty, bitter orange and some booze. Dry and mild warming finish. Very special taste and not all wrong after a few sips.
