9/27/2013: Listermann Beagle of the Corn... Yellow-gold color with an off-white head. Aroma is a bit subdued with a fairly limited amount of grapefruit/citrus and floral hops; it smells a bit more grainy than malty. The flavor reveals a nicely. The addition of the corn isn’t enough to be explicitly evident in the flavor, and that’s a good thing. What it does do is provide a lighter overall maltiness and base to the beer allowing the hops to be showbased a bit more and also keep the beer feeling a bit lighter on the palatte. Overall, I am pleased with this beer and found it to be enjoyable and sessionable. Kudos for being willing to experiment and make it work! Draught at Listermann Brewing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #4 for this beer.
Draft at Listermann in late September/early October 2013 notes. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have a grainy malt, lightly toasted, grapefruit citrus and floral hops, some earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, decent bitterness to the finish. A very drinkable IPA, brewed with a large amount of corn. The aroma is fresh and grassy and it’s quite strong, fizzing up from a thick head. The mouth feel isn’t overly heavy, but very satisfying and is far from watery. The corn adds something to the feel in the mouth as well, it’s perhaps more slippery than some beer.
The hops are floral with some evergreen character.
Listermann’s IPA series are all named after Beagles. This one is very refreshing. drsordr (2798) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - DEC 3, 2013
Draft sample clear average golden. Nose mango, resin and tropical fruit. Taste slight earthy and strong floral. Thick mouth. High bitter finish. LilBeerDoctor (4147) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 17, 2013
On tap at BrewRiver. Pours a clear orange with a thick white head. Aroma of grainy malt, hop resins, citrus. Flavor of pale malts, bitter hops, and citrus and hop oils in the finish. An interesting, different IPA. I prefer the other IPAs from Listermann but this is alright.

Tap sample - pours gold with offwhite head and good lacing. Nose is cat urine. Sip adds pine and citrus. Slight malty backbone. Very refreshing. Not that bitter for 80 IBUs.

Draft at Listermann. Pours a clear gold with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, corn, pale malts, and dusty grains. The flavor is also citrusy and floral, balanced by sweet and pale malts, corn, and more grains. Light-medium bodied, with a clean, mildly bitter mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice take on the Beagle. Tmoney99 (14856) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 29, 2013
Draft. Poured a clear copper color with an average ceeamy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus and earthy grain aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where surpassed. b3shine (9079) - Indiana, USA - SEP 28, 2013
Draft to taster at Listermann. Looks good for the style; a mostly transparent maize gold with white lacing and lively carbonation. Smells and tastes nice and hoppy with a notable but pleasant corn presence. Nice on the palate. An enjoyable take on the style. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 22, 2013
Sample on tap at the brewery. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Good, thicker lace. Good citrus and passion fruit in the nose. Corn malt in this is pretty interesting. Never had an aggressively hopped IPA with a corn malt feature before. Kind of odd, but not bad. Medium-plus body. Some light, smooth carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Like most of the recent Beagles I’ve had, this a very well-crafted, tasty hoppy IPA. I’m just not sure if the corn adds anything good to the taste, for me -- though it’s definitely noticeable. Interesting stuff, this Corn IPA. Very unique, for sure.
