12oz, red waxed bottle, 2012 edition courtesy of alexsdad. thanks, brad! pours a deep, dark mocha that sits black in the glass capped by a razor thin, khaki head that leaves just a sliver of lace. aroma is great with big notes of vanilla nougat, coconut cream, angel’s food cake, and banana cream pie backed by mild chocolate, roast, and light bourbon. flavor is pretty tasty as well, maybe a bit muddled, with a melange of vanilla icing, chocolate covered bananas, yoohoo, charred barrel, and dark fruits with hints of bourbon, toffee, and roast on the back end. palate is medium bodied with smooth carbonation and a dry, roasted yet sweet finish with a touch of heat. overall, a decent barrel aged imperial stout.
Backlog entry 12 ounce bottle thinks to Toby. pours out dark brown almost black topped with a small tan head. Nose is Bourbon Barrel vanilla chocolate some molasses a little bit of coffee and black licorice. Taste is Chocolat some smoke black licorice vanilla and The Bourbon Barrel. 2014 cincinnatus stout
Bottle to snifter. Thick pour, dark appearance with very little head that eventually rises. Smells of dark fruit, boozy sweetness. Thick malty sweetness, caramel, slight bourbon but more pronounced at the finish. Very nice.
2015 cincinnatus stout

dark fruit, boozy, bourbon. Thick pour, light tan head. Lighter upfront, bourbon, chocolate, a bit of roastiness and slight bitter from the hops. Well rounded and another great year for Cincinnatus.
2016 cincinnatus stout
Bottle to snifter. Dark fruit and bourbon (surprise!) Thick pour, very little lacing at all. Bourbon, chocolate, some toffee, all over a very heavy body and malty sweetness. 2/20/15. Sampled during RBWG 2015. Black pour with a nice tan head. Great aroma, fudgey, vanilla, oak, bourbon, chocolate, light char, coffee. Light black with a moderate tan covering.
Nose is rich fruit, spice, chocolate, light charr.
Taste comprises sweet notes, cocoa powder, molasses, spice, subtle bourbon strokes.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent BA impy affair, drinkability is good.

Thanks a million to phaleslu! If you look up Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout in the dictionary, you’ll notice two things. 1.) You bought a weirdly specific dictionary. (Seriously, where’d you get that?) 2.) Listermann’s Cincinnatus is pictured next to the definition. It pours black, it smells like roasted malts and booze, it’s viscous and warm, and it tastes rich, robust, and bittersweet. Yes indeed, Cincinnatus is a no-bullshit Imperial Stout. This 2011 vintage shined even though it has been several years since I picked it up in the Cincinnati area. A top notch imperial stout balances barrel aging with a rich experience. Grab a bottle when you can and try a solid release that holds up with anything else in the area.
Aroma / Appearance - A fluid black base stirs with only trace amounts of carbonation. A beige thin head bubbles to the surface. Licorice, black coffee, and vanilla sweeten the area around the glass. A creamy vanilla highlights a well done balance of base beer with additional aging.
Flavor / Palate - Chocolate, anise, and smoke stick to the tongue. A malty transition sweeps to a vanilla finish.A full bodied release shines from start to finish. If you can get your hands on a bottle get one while passing through Ohio.

Bottle shared late night during RBWG 2015. Pours rich black-brown with a creamy beige head. Pretty sweet, lots of sugary dark malts, rich chocolate, mild alcohol, burnt pine, earthy bitterness. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with some sticky and gooey chocolate, strong roast, darkr hits, raisins, scorched earth. Good stuff.
