Pint sized bottle
Pours a near-opaque mahogany body with a thick tan head holding good lace.
Rich yet subtle aroma; cocoa, molasses, fresh espresso, some dried fruits, spice and a touch of Pumpernickel bread.
Thick velvety texture, somewhat sweet and oil upfront with a firm bitterness cutting through. Low carbonation, good length.
Plenty of bitter chocolate on the palate, treacle and rich caramels, rye comes through with spice and staunch grain breadiness. Earthy spicy hops linger on finish, some slickness to boot with the bitterness.
Seriously tasty dark ale. The texture has certainly been bolstered by the addition of rye, also adding more complexity.

As "Little Creatures Single Batch Mr. Obadiah Rye Porter" at 6.9% ABV.
Clear very deep red to black color, brown nice head. Sweet, spicy, roasted, smooth taste. Roasted aftertaste. Smooth, full, thick mouthfeel. Medium bitterness. Sweet, malty, roasted scent. Plenty of lacing left on the glass.
This characterful, tasty rye porter is one of the better Little Creatures single batches. Would grab a few for winter if it became a part of their regular line-up. It nails the style nicely. Looks terrific. The rich aroma promises much and the beer pretty much delivers. Cacao, dark chocolate, all-spice. Dry finish. Very easy drinking for the strength. Smooth in the swallow. Draft at Beervana. Clear maroon color, small tan head. Aroma of lightly toasted brownies. Taste is lightly spiced brownies and cocoa. Needs a bit more rye. TenEighty (11) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 23, 2013
Pours solid black in appearance, head typical of a porter. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Perfect level of carbonation, to compliment the medium to thick palate. Taste, bitter coca with a smoky finish and a lingering dry bitterness. The beer gets a little sweeter as it warms up. I've been looking for a beer like this all winter, pity it's a single batch. Thick black with a cappuccino coloured head and heavy lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, crushed nuts and roasted malts (perhaps a trace of soy sauce - thanks maneliquor). A long, pleasant and cleansing bitterness wraps itself around a complex dark chocolate, nut and spice flavour profile. The rye provides a fantastic point of difference to a lot of porters. Once again the single batch has nailed it, with a challenging but incredibly drinkable beer. gam (3909) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUL 19, 2013
