I’ve been drinking this stuff since I got my first fake ID. It used to be brewed by Schoenling, in Cincinnati. There once was a red ale version that was my favorite. It was gone for a few years but is back and tastes the same. I like it. However, I think some of the negative reviews result from the fact that it doesn’t seem to have a long shelf life. I suspect that the farther you get from the brewery, the skunkier it gets. You need to get it fresh. Anchor Steam is kind of like that.
This beer is meant to fulfill our purpose in it does that. It's not an outstanding beer it's just a thirst-quenching beer that comes in a little bottle and it stays cold for the brief amount of time it takes to drink it. End of story. Scipio (1215) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - SEP 9, 2017
Pours a thin yellow with a small white head. There isn't a whole lot going on in the aroma, as I find weaker bread, grain, floral hops. The taste is slightly sweet. It has a kind of odd buttery flavor to it that is paired with a rather heavy graininess. I find corn and hay as well. Some bitterness comes through at the end, and so does a heavy grainy aftertaste. Light in body and more of a smooth texture. This one was unpleasant. DraftWarden28 (1) - Millcreek, Utah, USA - FEB 6, 2017 does not count
Very crisp creamy refreshing , I like this cream ale and find it very pleasing and unpretentious FROTHINGSLOSH (8142) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 13, 2016
Sampled from a 7 oz green bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet yet skinny, sourish and off. The flavor was bitter and dry with a bit of skunkiness and perfume. Medium length finish. light body. Awful. rader58 (926) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - OCT 7, 2016
7oz bottle. Pours clear light golden in color. Aroma of grain, sweet bread, floral. Flavor is sweet bread, floral. Very light, easy drinking. I would take this over the mainstream swill any day.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2016 Bottle at Green Dot Stables, Detroit. Straight outta the bottle. Aroma is mild cream soda sweetness, some weird funky maltiness, ehh. Flavor is like a skunked cream ale. Wow that ain?t good at all. Quite bad. PhatCatt (87) - Michigan, USA - JUN 30, 2016
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2016 Creamy with a with a nice straw pale (as in NOT being dark or roasty) medium body. Crisp with a nice straw pale color. ogre71 (359) - Utah, USA - NOV 29, 2015
A good little cream ale smooth drinking taste good would recommend. Would be nice if it came in a bigger bottle. ContemplateBeer (2097) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUL 22, 2014
Aroma: Grape cough syrup, very light hay. Appearance: Still light yellow with a thin white head that went away entirely. Flavor: Grape drank, slight hay underbelly. Palate: Medium body, thick texture, flat carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Not as bad as I made it sound, but wouldn’t go for it again. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAY 1, 2014
Sweet corn with light malt. Clear golden pour with creamy white head and lace. Sweet corn with a touch of maltiness. Sweet start a dry middle to a semi sweet lingering finish. A touch of floral notes at the end. No oxidation. Light bodied with pretty good carbonation. Light refreshing beer with no off tastes smooth. My bottle was fresh as a daisy no oxidation no off flavors
