Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Clear brown pour, light frothy head. Not much in the aroma, but a nicely malty bitter flavour. A typical English bitter not a bad one IMO. Good for a session. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

BlackHaddock (7346) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 3, 2017
500ml bottle conditioned (lot 6056, BBE Aug 2017) into a UK pint sleeve at home on 3rd Mar 2017. Good, dark mahogany body, full and lasting creamy head. Malty with a slight sulphurous trace in both the nose and taste. Strange one this, malty molasses trying to showcase their sweetness against a bitter, musty, earthy, sulphur undertone: not sure it should taste like this (although I note others have mentioned similar flavours).

A nice balance between Bitter hops and rich malt, producing a nice session beer, but ultimately unmemorable. I wonder if it would have been better with food. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

AshtonMcCobb (6609) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 6, 2016
Bottle from Old Shambles Tavern in York. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a nice generous head. Nose - biscuits, toffee (perhaps honey) and a slight metallic note. Taste - more toffee, metal and biscuits. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and good bitterness on the finish. Overall - quite an enjoyable bitter.

Cask at Tap East - London: pours reddish copper with a creamy off-white head. Musty grainy aroma with suggestions of damp leaves. Tastes a little odd, there’s some musty earth, vague tang, leaves. Light bodied with fine carbonation. More must in the finish, grainy bread, old leather. Not very drinkable.

Cask at tap east. During the Yorkshire open brew house beer fest. Orange amber coloured pour with a light haze and a lasting off white head. Aroma is light vinegar. Malt vinegar, nutty grains, apple grains. Flavour is composed of light nutty light tangy green apple. Burnt toffee, little too much solvent. Not very good condition. Palate is pretty ordinary, moderate carbonation, little grains. Woody vanilla. Meh.
