Light and bright, Withens Pale Ale uses refreshing floral Cascade hops with hints of spice, orange and citrus, giving a delicious dry bitter finish.

One of my favourites just has to be from my local brewery, dun’t it. Citrussy with a Germanic kind of flavour (here I say Germanic in the sense languages are Germanic so I can conveniently include the Dutch brewer, van der Spek, in this description), and so very quaffable. Ah, home!

en ipa i middelfeltet, god sødme og god humle, ikke så man bliver tør imunden men man får fornemmelsen af ipa.

This is a great little beer, a real gem among the reasonable priced beers in the UK market. Like others from this brewery, the lowlands influence is strong and very welcome! Subtly bitter, slight earthy taste from the yeast, light & crisp. Very good!!

Bottle from Sainsburys. Colour is hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is citrus pithy. Taste is dry. Nice enough golden beer

AshtonMcCobb (6614) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 22, 2016
Bottle from Old Shambles Tavern in York. Appearance - golden with a nice fluffy head. Nose - lemon followed in by cardboard and a musty malt thing. Taste - more lemon and malt. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - a bit like drinking a liquid version of a malt bag. A bit bland.

500ml bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours hazy pale gold with a thin bubbly white head. Aromas of musty malt, stale lemonade. Taste is lemon and cardboard. Not great.

Pours slightly hazy with small lasting head tastes orange and pine with a pithy hoppy drying finish one of this brewery’s better beers.

From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Watery and weird pale ale, but not a total disaster.

Flaske 500ml fra Kjeller 5. Veldig lys gyldengulbrun. Svakt uklar. OK skum som flater fort ut. Svak sitrusaroma. Smaken litt tynn. Mest sitrus. Holder seg syrlig. Tørr avslutning. Veldig uklar siste kvelling. KI=1.

Drunk from 50cl bottle bought at Bierhuis in Ossett. Enjoyable hoppy pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottles from Fabeers, York; Off Licence, Howarth; Booths, Keswick. Very pale golden in colour with malty, citrus and lemon flavours with toffee notes followed by a floral bitter hop finish. Very nice considering it’s low ABV. Bottle Conditioned
