Brown and malty, not much head, only as much hops as required for it to be beer, sweet and drinkable but a little too filling to have more than a few at a time. Brown sugar but still a bit dry. A nice compliment to pretty much any bar food you'll run across.

clear, dark amber with a thin head. Dark caramel malt and raisen aroma with a hint of DMS. Big malt flavor with caramel. Has a bit of astringency and sourness. Perhaps a little thin in body for the style. Nice rendition but I liked previous years better.

Excellent beverage. Thick copper. Massive bubbles. Dies away. Cherries and currants. A litle bit of rum. Slight cheddar cheese. Flavors are powerful. Big bold rum raisin kick, with a much more subdued saltiness than most doppels I’ve had. This was appealing. Excellent flavors per the style. Great beer. UPDATED: JAN 30, 2006 On Tap at Lovejoy’s. This is from the last 5 gallon keg on earth of this beer. Vintage 1999. It really held up well. Not much head. Great prune/raisin notes in the nose. Great malty dopplebock flavor with a little raisin. Slight oxidation. A good beer that I will miss.
Update: Liberator is back and better than ever! Good job Steve!
